The flap can only be in 2 positions, except in the short transition period.
In any case, Red Bull's mechanism would not allow the DRS style slot gap, as the flap leading edge is pushed rearwards during activation, rather than being lifted upwards, as in a DRS.
Ferrari's system could be changed to a simple slot gap by changing the actuators/stops.
Ferrari's mechanism opens in the same direction as a DRS, but continues until the wing flips.
