I think Alonso set that on mediums after the earlier soft run?

Hormuz Strait is still closed. *&@%^ Honda. (I guess it's actually a reference to the previous post suggesting vibration problems still occur. Let's see what the team and drivers say on that point).

I was watching Alonso on onboard the whole time....at the end of his first stint he reported huge vibrations, then went in came back and didn't report vibrations anymore but his onboard sound was different then Stroll's, much more rough, could be just the microphone problem

Krack was interviewed on German Sky, and said that there were no major complaints about vibrations from the drivers, so things were slowly heading into the right direction. According to him, reliability was the biggest topic to work on during the break, but they also shuffled off some weight etc.

I was hoping for some chassis upgrades after the 5 week break to test out on at least one of the cars in Miami. No upgrades at all is very disappointing, but as others have mentioned perhaps they are saving resources to unveil a full B Spec car later instead. This will be another weekend to forget for Aston ….

I'm sure you're aware, the Hondas of the last few years have always sounded aggressive (sounds better than saying rough! - honestly I do think they've sounded good and somewhat characterful given the constraints of the current rules). Maybe he was running a different mode, or energy recovery strategy. Or maybe yes, just some mic difference. I guess we'll find out about vibration status at the end of the day once the team comments are out.

It's worth noting that Aston engineers have been over in Japan (seemingly through ther break if I interpret reports properly, at the very least they've been in close collaboration), along with a car, so it's not as though Honda were doing this on their own, though the PU-side obviously is predominantly in their hands.

Also Orihara said, “We have made some progress, allowing us to implement further countermeasures in Miami and later in the season", so there's seemingly more to come if this is to be taken as an accurate quote (I'd speculate that means with an ADUO upgraded engine, but who knows).

Although there are no chassis aero upgrades declared, I suppose that leaves the possibility that some weight reduction occurred, but so far I haven't seen anything reported to that effect.

Edit: typed out in response to GoranF1, and then the couple of posts above arrived whilst I was doing so, thanks for the info!

It’s only FP1, but Aston Martin F1 Team looks marginally closer to Cadillac F1 Team around Miami.

Checo Perez seems to gain the bulk of his lap time under heavy braking — he’s consistently able to brake later into corner entry. That could also be feeding into better energy harvesting and deployment phases, though the softer compound is obviously a factor here.

Interesting to see whether that delta holds as the weekend evolves, especially once fuel loads and engine modes converge a bit more.

Comparisons to Cadillac are just depressing... Have they fixed the vibrations?
