imma be honest, its very clear the chassis was what held them back today. Car has pace on par with the Haas despite the worn softs. Just couldnt turn into corners at all so had to be latter on throttle on corner exit. meaning got stuck behind. Also cooling issues meant lot off lift and coast.
Car looked quite good in very slow stuff.....

Really? Aston are picking up more places off-track than on-track!

2.5 seconds behind P1, and comfortably ahead of Audi. Yes, it's still horrible, but I think things are improving, and that's without any performance upgrades.

Alonso said they had more performance but couldn't use it because they had gearbox problems throughout the session.

Yeah, he said he was 0.4s slower at the beginning of his fast lap due to gearbox not responding as it should. Well, I think they are far better than were in Melbourne. The question is... Will they be able to develop this platform to make it competitive?

i dont think theres any doubt that they will improve. becoming "competitive" depends on a lot of factors though. and competitive with who? lol for the first time i think we can have faith that the guys running things arent gonna continuously bring upgrades that dont work, like in the past. neweys not perfect, but he didnt get where hes at by being satisfied that getting points is good enough either. give him a stable platform to work on and hell make it fast/competitive.

Probably yes, but, he said they dont have vibrations anymore, so, for real, the season starts now for them.

Alonso said he don’t expect a Q2 until race 14 (Zandvoort) which looks crazy to me now they have at least a stable engine to build performance in the car they are not going to bring new parts for 10 more races. Also, I didn’t see Honda that bad

Exactly. Quite a few people on here weren't happy to entertain the idea the gearbox fragility is playing a part. Based off the last sessions, the engine is far from the biggest issue now.

I think this Qualifying, today, is the first time they REALLY take data from FP and change the setup for qualifying and REALLY push the car hard around the track. Before today they were just babying the car around the tracks, they couldn't because of the vibrations. You don't learn anything from the chassis that way.

Yes people here talk like aston are the one that won world champion and honda is holding them back .the car has many issues and took honda tools to help iron out problems.the pu in the first races was not been pushed, with more upgrades the engine will reach top position very soon

i am curious about the battery for the race. There was a runoured capacity unlock and the race pace in sprint despite the softs was really good so kind want to see how it will play out.
