Do we know what was going on with Charles’ car at he end?

Piastri passed him in SLM, yet charles’ rear wing was closed, from what is could see, and I don’t know about the FW, then moments later, he spins

Some sort of a failure caused an imbalance?

"Did you deliberately close the wing to let him through?"

"Charles: "That was part of the strategy, but well, the strategy didn't work. If I'd stayed ahead, I was sure Oscar would overtake, because they had way too much speed on the straights, especially in sector two, which was my strength at the start of the race. By the end, with the worn tires, I no longer had that strength, so I knew I absolutely had to activate Overtake mode. So he passed as expected, but then I made the mistake, and that threw all the effort in the trash."

No he closed it on purpose to recharge and get OVERTAKE on Piastri because he was slow due to very worn tyres (pitted way earlier). Then he tried to stay close in high speed and lost the car.

It was predicted that this could happen, drivers choosing to be behind before starting the last lap so they get the overtake mode. Don't think it will work.

It doesn't make sense either because on the last lap the defending driver can use the boost mode until the battery is completely flat because there is no lap afterwards.

Congrats Charles! There's your reward for 'pushing hard' according to your excusers.

That is a lot more than Hamilton got in Singapore last year.

20s for cutting corners with broken steering is pretty insane... It's not like he gained lots of time in total.

Edit: I see he has a 1:49.834 on the last lap, around 15s off the people around him.

It's essentially a drivethrough.

Did they say anything about why 20 over 5 seconds? I thought it was a similar situation to Hamilton in Singapore last year, but he only got 5 there if I recall

The strange thing is Hamilton cut far more corners that time.

Leclerc only cut 3 corners today. Why wasn't this just handled under the track limit infringement code? 3 track limit strikes which gives no punishment?

I don't care either way, so it's more of an educational question. Why is this not handled under track limit infringement?

You care enough to make two comments about it though
