More bodywork, chassis and floor over to what they did already? Nice.

Piers Thynne leaves McLaren:

https://www.the-race.com/formula-1/mcla ... -williams/

He’s served the team well. It’s never great to see people leave the team, especially one who’s helped to drag them from the back of the grid to the very front but it seems to me Piers likes the ‘building up’ process, that’s what he did at McLaren and hopes to to the same at Williams.

His McLaren project is now mature and hopefully any successor can continue the good work and possibly improve it further.

Lando talking down the size of the Canada upgrade. Let us see how much sand involved

Probably not a lot of sand.
Again I’m looking at the first pictures of the car in Canada and I’m struggling to see any difference- just like I was in Miami until it’s pointed out to me.

I think too much hype has been thrown at this Canada upgrade.

We shall see tomorrow

The team doesn't do hype.

I think this just proves that "aero eyeball" is no longer able to determine what is fast or not. McLaren brings upgrades that few people can notice and the car gains a lot of performance.

Sorry it’s behind a paywall but Oscar seems optimistic with ‘another reasonable step’ in terms of car performance.

*sorry, I get the link to work*

It must be said that Oscar does tend to sound more optimistic in general with regards to car performance compared to Lando over the last few seasons now.

Oh darn it, that is a shame. Piers is a good guy. You got a top man there Williams

Have in mind that the Miami upgrade should still need tweaking as with just one practise run there wasnt enough time to perfect it so I am confident we can find more time from there and gain time from the Canada upgrade also.

In any case I hope the team gains the upper hand and start their comeback for both titles. However they have a lot of distance to cover in terms of points and Lando Norris must be better than last year cause I doubt Mercedes will do the mistakes of Mclaren from last year.

Very messy session. Neither driver got a clean lap in but even if they did they were like 0.4s behind ANT> if that is real, both championships are over

Not a good practise. The team didnt have a clean lap and it looks like Mercedes even if we had a clean lap is eons ahead again after their large upgrade.

But lets see how it will evolve. Im not ready to throw in the towel.

Hoping for a WDC or a WCC is a good way to be disappointed. This season was stacked against the customer teams and the team is doing really well. I would also say that the gap is not that big. For my eyeball the car is faster than Ferrari and Red Bull.

Yes agree. I think P2 in the WCC with a few wins this year may be the best outcome but after the championship tunarounds of the last 2 seasons, one can always hope
