Mclaren MCL40

A place to discuss the characteristics of the cars in Formula One, both current as well as historical. Laptimes, driver worshipping and team chatter do not belong here.

It looks like they have shortened the nose so the bottom plane sticks out a lot further now? Or am I wrong that the nose used to protrude the wing?

That could be a good spot!
A did read that a new nose was rumoured to make an appearance in Canada (amongst a whole lot of other things)
Just a fan's point of view*

Re: Mclaren MCL40

I can't see anything different with the front wing at all and the horizontal pane across the vanes in the floor edge was part of the Miami package. W.r.t to the front wing, for me at least, it looks like different angles making it look flatter. Need to see the car from a front-view to confirm.

Unless they're doing a split-car setup for FP1 for evaluation purposes and we haven't seen the upgrades yet, there doesn't seem like much is visually different here in Canada compared to Miami (except the halo vane)

Edit:

I think in the following post you can see that there doesn’t really seem to be any difference in the front wing :

NEW McLaren front wing and new Venturi channels according to https://x.com/Nachez98/status/205777338 ... 41/photo/2 (still not sure about second image where I was expecting for Canada the Intel logo instead of the McLaren one used until Miami)

The Canada MCL40 does have the intel logo on the bargeboards (as seen in Fabrega's pics) so not sure if this pic is from Miami

So no Maccarena wing here after all. They may bring it at a future event with real straights
I'm also surprised by the number of cooling related updates given the early timing of the race this year (and its always cooler than expected which is why Merc won last year) and expected rain

The wings are different… Norris running the new wing, Piastri the old one for correlation and comparison work
