Race was over once George retired which is brutal for his championship because he was ahead of Kimi so its a huge swing in points, but some good battles behind at least.
The problem is these two drivers are so equal on pace! It's not like the Silver War with Lewis and Nico where Nico was quick in qualifying but slower in the race resulting in one driver streaking away in the championship. Still, 40 points can be erased with bad luck.

That race was fun with three generational talents sharing a podium at the end.

This was the best race of the year by a long way. Close racing and hard fought overtakes that weren't worthless because of yoyo mode. Exactly how it should be.

Indeed, i really liked it. I feel sorry for Russel but it is what it is some times.
Hamilton was the revelation today for me. The old fart if the car is in his liking, he delivers.

Good race, but the field spread though.

Overtakes were literally yoyo overtakes = power surges.

It wasn't a slam dunk pass ad repass like earlier in the year. Drivers had to actually drive well for consecutive laps and keep the driver in front under pressure. When they overtook, they didn't just become a sitting duck for a repass.

We didn't see much yo-yo 'within one lap' because of the track layout where there is really only one long straight. And the reason for yo-yo between the mercs in the first quarter of the race, was because once every 2/3 laps, one of them would get their T10 braking wrong, due to the low grip from overnight/morning rain. We didn't see much yo-yo, not because the regulation changes solved it, it was because the layout of the track gave enough 'can't pass, but can recharge' opportunity between T1 and T10.

The Merc battle won't end up as the "silver war" repeated because Toto wont allow it.

Antonelli is also plain quicker, like hamilton was. Russell just doesn't have the pure hatred of the other driver like nico did. I can't see Russell going to the extremes that nico did back then.

A very entertaining race, overtaking is definitely harder now so a bit more rewarding when moves are done. Bravo

Hamilton definitely surged past Verstappen with a pu 30hp down on the RBPT

On that straight he was probably more like 100+ hp up and of course Verstappen had no battery to defend with on that straight. The move was completed in the straight line, not even in the corner.
