Mclaren MCL40

Front wing is very different, inboard is a lot more loaded. Nice evolution of what they had, but a big change nonetheless.

McLaren said Norris was the least comfortable of the two in practice but both drivers changed to the older front wing for sprint qualifying as Piastri said “we felt more comfortable with it”.

After Norris qualified third and Piastri fourth for the sprint race, both are set to continue with the older wing for the remainder of the weekend.

McLaren rear endplate upgrade: a somewhat hidden innovation is on the inside of the endplate. There's a lot of play around with the rules with the radius of the curves.

Interesting that the team chose to keep a hybrid package for the race. Bodes really well for when they get the new front wing working

An upgrade(s) is planned for Monaco too. I wonder if not getting the new front wing to correlate will effect any up coming upgrades as they will have been developed to work with the new wing as well.

Bottom of sidepod looks a lot thinner from this angle.

It is so from test 1. We are just so familiar with the wide downwashing sidepods from 22-25 that it is easy to "overlook".

why is F1 tv celebrating this overtake so much ?
It's a pretty standard "after grabbing the tow and passing over the straight, brake later than the guy in front who is blocking the inside of the corner, take the outside line through the 1st 90 of chicane to grab the inside of the 2nd 90, and block a smooth exit for the overtaken guy" bread n butter move that we have seen umpteen times in Canada wall of champtions, Spa bus stop chicane, Monza T1 etc, right ?
Or is it because it was done on the final lap, that it's being celebrated so much ? I am not able to understand the hype behind this overtake. Nothing against Piastri (fans please dont attack me), he did the move brilliantly, but that's expected from a top tier F1 driver anyway.

It wasn't done on the straight, both cars made it through that tight chicane and no one crashed. It's not the top overtake but for the sprint and this track it was a good one, also on the last lap after a lot of fighting.

You are correct. My eyes deceived me again. #-o
