Another case of overdriving and hitting the wall for Leclerc. How long will it take for him to accept the car's limitations?

He better get it into his head that this car doesn't allow for more than a second-row start or P2 in the best-case scenario. Continue this overdriving and he'll get a beating from a 41-year-old "washed" driver this season.

Overdriving is a big risk that doesn't compensate for the results in most cases. It's a fine line between being called the new Senna or the new Maldonado, depending on what it leads to.

This is the case when you have to try, your home gp when if you start first you essentially win.
It’s not that big deal, much worse to me is the fact that neither Ham nor Lec got the pole.

This is a real turning point for Lewis Hamilton.
Let's hold judgement on that...Charles would've been quicker if he wasn't pushing so hard on that last run.
You're not quicker if you put it in the wall.
Eh. Pure pace wins out in the long run. Leclerc demonstrated the Ferrari was the quickest in his hands. Hamilton was behind 2 other cars

Monaco is a circuit where race pace doesn't matter much. Unless you're more than 3-4 second slower per lap than the car behind, it won't overtake you on the track unless it manages an undercut.

The team needs to sort out this inability to get the best out of the softer tyres in the Pirelli range. This is as big an issue as the power deficit.

On the look of current trend, I won't bet on Leclerc coming up on top over the long run.

Does anyone have the data on where leclerc was before he put it in the wall? Seemed like he did a better first sector so might have been up?

Very frustrating not to get pole here. Maybe the starts will come to the rescue but it should have been better imho - combination of team, tyres and drivers not maximising. Charles can speak of issues but someone like a Max (or Michael) can be struggling all weekend and still maximise when it matters. I was holding for/expecting a Senna-esque lap from him right at the death but he messed it up and tbh that happens too often if he’s really going to be in Max’s level.

Same, loved that final lap. Id rather see this than 'playing it safe'. Though I am not sure it is the smartest thing to do.
