No team sets out to make a car that can’t ride the kerbs. This all flows from the weight - a higher weight means you need to run stiffer to provide the same aero platform stability as cars that are lighter. A lighter car at Austria will allow them to run more compliant and still maintain the same stable platform.
It's about aero map more than weight imo. And lack of vehicle dynamics correlation (which they alrdy demonstrated in the ground effect era)
