Hamilton said they lack downforce. It's surprising to me considering they have this blown exhaust system which imo is worth quite a bit. What does next year look like without that system? It feels like they are having to start from square one whereas as the other teams did not base their concepts on the flick tail exhaust system.

The flick-up tail is no performance differentiator; it's removal won't change overall concept.

The entire rear end was reshaped for that system from the aero parts to the position of the drive shaft. They got FIA approval months in advance. They put a cap on their exhaust that sacrifices engine power. The rest of the paddock scrambled to run cheap imitation on the back of their car. The finally decided to ban it before it got out of hand.

Ferrari had V1 upgrades in Miami like other teams. Mercedes only brought V1 upgrades at the last weekend. Ferrari have V2 in Barcelona, Mercedes will follow after with a V2 upgrade.

i didn't catch that part. but in a way it is still similar to launch car, they have little bits and pieces updates to barge board? is that what's its called?, at the back and floor.. but front wing and engine cover are still same.. wonder if they can reduce the width of the bottom of engine cover.. merc, meclaren, aston have extremely narrow under side of engine cover..

Antonelli's pace is alarming. I thought Hamilton would have been able to keep up but not even close...

The quicker driver (imo) this weekend had brakes that didn't work and Mercedes in Canada confirmed they have the best overall car. Once they suited out the balance this weekend they were flying.

This is true. When they were in clean air on the starting tyre HAM was pulling away. Charles closed in on next tyre but that was just HAM managing the temperatures. Things stabilized after. I am also surprised that Charles wasn't on Lewis' gearbox at a strong Charles track and a relatively weak HAM track.

Hamilton also said after qualifying that it was a "Surprise" to see the other teams bringing the little winglets on the rear wing because "we don't have that". I think there is a way to read this...

It was certainly a point not lost on Lewis Hamilton, who referenced that Ferrari had potentially missed a trick in not chasing the same exploit.

Asked by The Race about the factors that had gone against the squad, Hamilton said: “Apart from wanting more downforce globally, I think when we arrived on Thursday we saw other people, those guys, with trick additions to their wing.

“We didn’t have that, which was a little bit of a surprise.”

Maybe we could have gotten the pole and win with the added downforce from those winglets.

Williams Toet's analysis on F1 TV says those little wings indirectly could bring about a net 200kg more downforce at top speed from the rest of rear wing and the floor. If you down convert that to the slower corners it is sill a significant difference. Ferrari really missed a trick.

Leclerc said himself that they had found the solution for the brakes BUT HE DIDN'T want to use it in Monaco. Its completely on him what happened.

It's not a "Solution". It's just using what Hamilton has. He didnt' want it for Monaco because he probably think it makes him slower on his best track. If he is going to be on Hamilton's setup going forwards...

So is better not to have rear brakes and to be in danger of crashing as we saw with our eyes? Semimeasure or two measure it was the wrong call imo and what happened in the race proves it. At least he had must tried it in an FP.

I would be surprised if that was the case..if Charles was happy with his car, but he wasn't. In Canada he said he felt the worst he has ever felt in a car since starting F1 because of the brakes and now mentioned them again and the data backs him up. In both races, he has lost control of the car. What gets me is why he needs to change to Lewis's system, surely they can put new brakes on if these are faulty?
