George Russell claimed his first Formula One sprint race win at the 2026 Chinese Grand Prix, maintaining his perfect start to the season after a closely fought contest that highlighted both Mercedes’ strengths and the evolving competitive order under the 2026 regulations.
This forum contains threads to discuss teams themselves. Anything not technical about the cars, including restructuring, performances etc belongs here.
Massive understeer due to tarmac pickup, missed apex by miles and locked up before hitting the wall. Not carrying any excess speed, just can't turn in at all. Nearly follows the exact same line as Lance.
Strange brake readings are due to the front left having zero grip and requiring far less force to lock.
Why do we keep analyzing the problem from two races ago, again & again ? It feels like watching lawyers argue their sides in a court. For days.
Root cause ?
- broken tarmac ?
- malfunctioning brakes ?
- driver error in failing to warm up the tyres enough, before the safety car ended ?
Yes/No, Yes/no, Yes/No - there are 7 combinations possible (No, No, No - is invalid) where one or two or three of the above can be the single/combined reason. The driver felt it was the brakes and he exploded with adrenaline on the radio about it. We all have our opinions about it. Ferrari are not going to reveal their root cause analysis. It could any/more or the above or even a 4th reason. Anything. We are not going to know.
Toto wolff believes there is a real threat from ferrari for a championship battle. I feel the gap is still too far to even think about that. Aren't the media getting ahead of themselves a bit?

Never say never. Its a long year. McLaren almost lost it last year as well. If Ferrari maintains this trajectory, Mercedes cannot afford to stand still.
so according to autocar.it new engine will provide 4 to 5 hp and new fuel will give 2 or 3.. so around 8hp if we are lucky hope that enough.. also small turbos will have disadvantage due to higher altitude?

The media generates the hype so as to sell their product otherwise what's the point? On the other hand, we know that it would take a miracle for Ferrari to win the championships this season. It's all about being competitive and winning as many races as they can, bearing in mind the power handicap.

That's the media for you. Last year Hamilton was a spent force who should retire. Now he's a racing god because he won one race.

There was a video at one point of James Allison during the weekend of Singapore 2015 I believe explaining how much 10 HP is worth in lap time. 8 HP would be around 0.125 or so if memory serves. Not that much but every little bit helps, the gap to pole was 0.064 last week, half as much as the theoretical gain.

Depends on the length of the track.
10hp is not worth the same amount around A1 and Spa for example
