No verstappen announcement of contract extension this week is not a good sign
It's a great sign for Verstappen fans though.

He will obviously want to see what the upgrades deliver before making a decision.
This is my impression as well. He wants a few races with the new package to see how it goes and then re-evaluate.
I think this will be decided by the summer break.
Even Red Bull says that this is their most important package for the year so this will determine their remaining season.
Apparently the package is also huge

According to Corriere della Sera (which in my opinion is not very reliable, but still) Russell has been confirmed for 2027 and will be announced very soon. We all know what this would mean.

Gpblog has said that the report from corrierre della sera is incorrect. I guess we'll see but one source outright saying a specific other source is wrong is not too common

Verstappen confirmed that Red Bull brought new updates this weekend and that they expect concrete steps from it.

This update package also carries great importance for the future.

Looking at the car thread, yeah really a big evo.
Fingers crossed.
My CFD eyes say that doesn't look like a package that will "just" shed 2 tenth (excluding weight reduction) but hopefully a lot more :? :D

6-8 tenths can be expected in race pace. If it improves tyre wear too.

Well. 8 tenths would be the dream. But it's a far cry. The bodywork changes are big but not revolutionary. I would also say that they're a natural evolution from 3-4 rounds ago, not like mclaren were doing in 2023 when they made huge progress.

We need to temper expectations. But if the updates improve driveability at the same time as reducing weight and increasing usable downforce considerably then 8 tenths is achievable imo given the scale. But it is a few assumptions there

There's been a major disparity between the qualy and race pace ever since Miami, the qualy pace improved a lot, but the race pace improvements were more modest. I think anything above a 0.5s improvement would be amazing and would be enough for the Max factor to come into play.

If they somehow could get class leading tire deg, it would open them up to so many more opportunities. The deg has been the worst of the top 4 by some margin.

Imagine if they got engine upgrade as well, as they probably have planned.
