It was a bad qualy but people need to calm down. Reliability issues seem to be improving but there is a aero package issue where we cannot be fast on corners without adding to much drag and we still have some tyre management issues. Let the team develop. It’s clear merc is two steps ahead and probably hiding still some and Ferrari have done a very development job. We are in month 5 of this new regs.

People keep forgetting the most stupid rule ever invented, the CFD and wind tunnel time did not reset for the new regulations, McLaren were fighting a championship to the wire last year.

It would have been a MONUMENTAL achievement to be fighting for wins given this handicap and conditions.

This year they have grace IMO, if next year they are no where near, that's a failure of their own doing.

Red bull fought for a championship to the last race in 2021 and came to 22 under new regs with a very good car which they quickly made the class of the field, there shouldn’t be any excuses

The change was chassis only, plus Redbull was Honda factory team.

Furthermore, RedBull didn't finish first and the system was different and much more gentle in restrictions decline based on position.

Incomparable.

They had advantage of Newey who had seen ground effect era which was later banned. He was instrumental in the rear suspension design which led to their little to no porpoising car.

Rob Marshall enhanced that concept and brought to McLaren. No body in 2026 is talking about anti dive and anti squat as the car is not sucked from the ground

Ferrari was faster than RBR to start that season. Merc had a much more developed car (except that their philosophy was wrong).

Also it's not like we're miles off here like Aston. We're still in the mix, fighting for consistent podiums and hopefully back to fighting for wins soon like Japan and Miami, which everyone's forgotten about
