FIA clear up Safety Car ending to race
An FIA statement:
"The Safety Car period regulation, Article B5. 13.5, states that one lap must be completed following the unlapping procedure.
" This process was followed by Race Operations. The 'Safety Car In This Lap' message was displayed erroneously due to a software error."

Lewis and his fans must be delighted. These are the rules they indirectly pushed for, and the FIA gave them exactly what they wanted. The rest of us can thank them for yet another race finish being ruined. This is the second time we’ve seen it happen since Monza 2022. On the other hand, perhaps we should be grateful it hasn’t happened more often.

Who would’ve thought. There was also no penalty for Hamilton for touching rival car, whereas rule is clear.

Again, why do lapped cars have to pass the safety car, not drop 10 (or more) seconds off the last car on that lap? They are lapped, so it is unlikely they will make up enough ground to interfere in the race even if quite early in the race
When arguing with a fool, be sure the other person is not doing the same thing.

Have you seen the ticket prices?
Still, full house and all time record attendance, alledgely. So, BRDC and F1 and happy with this

They would never punish Ham, specially at Silverstone. Everybody remember about him getting away with it on 2021 (phony punishment allowing him to win despite what he has done) but there was a qualifying either 2015 or 2016 in which he outright blocked somebody and they did not take his pole as was dictated by the rules back then.

He was never getting punished here, above all because they want him on the tittle fight for commercial reasons

Terrible race, not because of lack of action (there was enough) but because I have no clue who was actually fast and who not. Race was a little better than sprint imo, but still yuck.

Yep, I bet even Lewis was shocked he wasn't penalized today. I saw his interview after the race and he knew it was a slam dunk, he was fully expecting to get a penalty and drop out of the points.
That said, I don’t think it was just because he was British. The decision was dictated entirely by the severity of the consequences—losing a podium and dropping out of the points. There can be little doubt that he’d have received a standard time penalty if it hadn’t had such a severe impact on the outcome.

For all the 'british driver' hype, I am glad that it was leClerc who won. Especially loved to hear Croft & Brundle collapse like a defalted balloon, knowing that Hamilton wouldn't get a safety car restart for a possible 2nd.

LeClerc has been getting a lot of flak recently. People forget that driving an F1 car is a fine art with many subtleties that we observers many never understand ; where even a 1% error in relative timing between the pedals and steering can have drastic aftereffects in this "no-direct-only-suggestive-control-over-torque-request-by-driver-when-AI-algorithm-determines-power-delivery" ruleset. Super happy for him.

That note has now disappeared from the Sky Sports website, and is apparently still under investigation? I did think it was strange is was given as a reprimand, seems like that report was a mistake. Not seeing confirmation anywhere now.

so why they penalise sainz in melbourne 2023 dropping him from fourth to 12th and out of the points?

Lewis just admitted that he didn't see the yellow flag and is expecting a penalty
Oh, bound to. Although, having said that, as the podium has happened maybe they'll do one of those grid place drop next race penalties that they use sometimes.
They give a grid penalty if driver isn't classified.

Never mind, now it's confirmed.
