I had a look and the only tickets left were in Landoland. S'funny but you'd think the reigning champion could fill a grandstand.

If the sun can get at the track surface for a couple of uninterrupted hours, it will be more like yesterday I'd guess.

It was almost cold this morning here about 9 miles away. Cold as in high teens rather than the high twenties we had yesterday (and which it's now climbing towards again).

The decision was dictated entirely by the severity of the consequences—losing a podium and dropping out of the points. There can be little doubt that he’d have received a standard time penalty if it hadn’t had such a severe impact on the outcome.

It didn't bother them when they handed Sainz a 5 second penalty, in an identical scenario... He dropped to nowhere from 3-4 (I don't remember exactly)...

Who would’ve thought. There was also no penalty for Hamilton for touching rival car, whereas rule is clear.

They would never punish Ham, specially at Silverstone. Everybody remember about him getting away with it on 2021 (phony punishment allowing him to win despite what he has done) but there was a qualifying either 2015 or 2016 in which he outright blocked somebody and they did not take his pole as was dictated by the rules back then.

He was never getting punished here, above all because they want him on the tittle fight for commercial reasons

Yep, I bet even Lewis was shocked he wasn't penalized today. I saw his interview after the race and he knew it was a slam dunk, he was fully expecting to get a penalty and drop out of the points.

He said apparently he overtook under yellows and didnt see it and that he's probably going to get a penalty because the fia always have to react. He didnt deserve a penalty anyways, when he approached hulk's car the lights on the panel were flashing blue, after hes down the road and already pass that car the lights on the steering wheel turn yellow to show yellow flag but the light panel ahead is still green and no yellow lights or flags after that

Terrible race, not because of lack of action (there was enough) but because I have no clue who was actually fast and who not. Race was a little better than sprint imo, but still yuck.

Kimi with the Mercedes was clearly the fastest and by a mile

Yeah he was driving with the correct software config for sure, I think his teammate was still driving with the beta spec and they gave Mclaren the alpha! I can't see any driver skill, just "wow nice deployment".

I mean you cant even brake a little later or drive curbs riskfree... you might upset the software! Or it might be your lucky day and something falls of your car or your rear wing just says Im out.

Managing is fine, but this is about preserving the car/tires, sticking to the predetermined lines/brake points etc to satisfy the software. It's lame, silly, boring and takes away the true skill. Hence my point: I don't know who is really fast.

Why do we need the unlapping procedure? It's not a oval circuit.

Before we had the unlapping rule drivers complained the back markers were in the way.

Well, now they gained all the distance to the far infront for free and before the safety car he would have to pass the lapped car.

The only one losing out are the ones ahead, not the ones behind.

It would be more action and quicker resolutions without the unlapping rule.

If we need them to disappear it would be quicker if they just let everyone pass and they go to the end of the queue with 10s added time per lapped lap to reduce the benefit of extra fuel.

Any solution is better than the one used today.

Imagine a scenario. George takes the lead with 25 laps old hards as he doesn't pit and both Ferraris that were ahead of him pit for new softs and come behind George. But then there are 3 backmarkers between George and Charles. Is that ok to restart without removing backmarkers and you have only one racing lap left?

Then George has done a good job and has put a gap on Charles that fits three backmarkers. What is wrong with doing a good job?

The current situation is just crazy...they clear the track and instead of restarting, they start unlapping. In this case it again cost two additional laps. This is around 4% of the race.

The whole thing came up when Vettel profited several times. Not that Alonso would have had a chance to overtake (remember how difficult it was to overtake), no the issue was, that Vettel was two seconds away until Alonso cleared the backmarkers. Yuo can read tons of posts here on the old threads how bad this was.
