The issue with the rear wing is that it doesn't close fully. You have to look carefully.
Viaplay: So what happened there?
Max: "Same as in Austria, rear wing didn't close entirely."

I was able to capture the issue in the footage from Austria. Its very subtle but it is there. In the 2nd run, approaching T9, the wing "looks" closed but it is not. The top of the wing remains above the endplate when it should be lower and aligned like the 1st run. You can also see the misalignment of the slot gaps at the edges of the mobile portion of the wing.

It's not about braking too late or manually closing it. The wing just can't close fully no matter what. It is a design issue.

An embargo suggests it is more than quitting. That doesn't need an embargo does it? You need an embargo if things need to be prepared, like photos in (new) team gear etc.

My bet, he is going to follow GP.
I bet he’s going to overthrow Sulayem with a hostile takeover. Scrap the current PU regs. Re-join a team and win another world title

Is Max retiring? This Will Buxton tweet is intriguing
.
This isn't about Max or RBR van Haren said this afternoon.

Wouldn’t surprise me. It’s no doubt Will Buxton being the insufferable human being that he is.

Wasn’t he the one who started the Lando to Red Bull rumour after 2022 because Lando smacked his hand on the garage wall after one of the pre-season tests?

He couldn’t have been more wrong about that could he

'Verstappen will fly to Red Bull factory tomorrow'

Published on 06 Jul 2026 20:29 1 By: Bob Plaizier

Max Verstappen appears to be leaving for the Red Bull plant in Milton Keynes tomorrow. Verstappen has had a very frustrating racing weekend in Silverstone, and that has caused many additional rumours about his future. Those stories do not seem to disappear, and the question is what he will do in England tomorrow.

The steam came out of Verstappen's ears last weekend. After a disappointing seventh place in qualifying, he suggested changing the engine and adjusting the set-up. Verstappen did not have a good feeling in the car, and the corresponding pit lane start he wanted to take for granted. Red Bull, however, decided not to do that, which caused frustration at Verstappen. In the race he was on stage race, but he fell out just before the finish after a crash caused by a problem with the active aerodynamics of his rear wing.

Verstappen was white-headed afterwards, and he suggested that he want nothing to do with Red Bull for the time being. That seems to be something else now, because GPToday.net has understood that Verstappen's jet will fly to Cranfield tomorrow. It is expected that Verstappen's private jet will depart from Nice airport around 08:00, and then set course for Cranfield. This British airport is located right next to Milton Keynes, where the Red Bull factory is located.
What's going to happen in Milton Keynes?

Whether Verstappen himself is also on board, or whether his management is flying by plane to the UK, is not clear. It now seems that Verstappen will leave Cranfield around 18:00 British time, but those kinds of times can change. It is more common that later leave, which can be due to, for example, traffic jams, outbound meetings or other things.

What's going to happen at the Red Bull plant is not entirely clear. Chances are Verstappen will take a seat in the simulator, something he does regularly in the week before a Grand Prix. In view of the Belgian Grand Prix in two weeks, for example, he can start preparing early. Remarkably, Verstappen often doesn't fly to Milton Keynes until the end of the week for a sim day.
The much-discussed exit clause

For Verstappen, it is now at least a troubled period. The frustration has been great all season, and Red Bull is facing a big backlog. Verstappen is currently in seventh place in the World Championship, and can now use his exit clauses. In Silverstone, at least, he didn't want to say anything about his future.
