Why? It is not like they throw away potential point because they don't drive the old car. They need every minute of data they can on the new package. Running again with the old car is the most useless thing they could do at this time.
Probably it makes no sense to wait any longer, it looks like they strategically chose this date:V10FURY wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026, 07:55It sounds like they will be short on parts and if they crash in FP or qualifying, it could be an issue. Perhaps they should have waited until after the summer break to make sure they had enough parts built. Let’s see if they can catch Cadillac this weekend, which is all I think is reasonable to expect, without another 50hp from the Honda motor as yet. After the summer break, with a revised engine and the chassis and aero actually working, they might be able to catch the Haas/Willams cars.
There are things that you can tweak in the engine tuning (boost, ignition timing, fuel injection quantity & timing and I don't know if some more) that can do a great change in engine behaviour without touching a single hardware part.f1Follower wrote: ↑22 Jul 2026, 18:49Just a thought but if Honda engine is same as earlier no ADUO changes applied and with the new gear box and chassis there are no vibrations then it can be concluded that Honda is underpowered but the gearbox or another component was responsible for vibrations?
Yeah the Sidepods is non-existent now. The Honda engine is so tightly packed compared to the others, how are they gonna make it work still after all the issues. I was expcting bigger sidepod inlets and cooling like Red Bull, Mercedes or Audi.
Looks wide enough in this picture...

I think they just have a little different profile on the inlet now. Not really any smaller.De Wet wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026, 14:07Looks wide enough in this picture...

I would have considered him. It's one of those things where one should be careful what you wish for. He got his wish to drive for RBR and it was a complete disaster. He might be the one driver in recent F1 history that is worse than Stroll.ispano6 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026, 03:13If Alonso leaves, they should pick up Tsunoda. He will be cheap and can speak the native tongue of the Honda engineers. He can be #2 to Lance even. He's fit and in his prime now, and hungrier than ever. Just needs to keep that temper down and not get in the way of Lance.GhostF1 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2026, 00:56Yeah, as there is ZERO way they brought an engine that "didn't fit".
I'd take this with a grain of salt and with all due respect, I'd take most of what the Spanish media has been saying with a grain of salt. It is all extremely toxic, propped up by the idolisation of Alonso. It's usually just smack to dress down Honda because of this Alonso v Honda narrative.
