No cooling vents on top of the sidepod… is F1rules right?

This is a much better view of the Macarena. Its enough to allow me to adjust the model. The size of the wing and the angle of the linkage is a little bit off in the model (the linkage extends too much and approaches over-center,Mclaren has a notch at the top which prevents the linkage from stretching this far), but it's enough to have some idea of how it would move.

Indeed. I updated the post accordingly. Sorry for the info, and I';ve sent the feedback also to the x user.

Mclaren brings 4 performance upgrades:

- Rear wing
- Floor body
- Front corner
- Rear corner

Circuit specific:
- Front corner

very nice. I like the actuator more than the Red Bull one. It's much more compact.

My initial impression is that is closes faster than it opens. I suppose that's probably the best case scenario, but probably still needs some tweaks on the opening part.

Opening looks similar size as Ferrari and smaller than Red Bull. Though I have not seen the new Ferrari rear wing in action

for sure you have better eyes than mine :) but for me the positive part is RW - FW correlation. Seems all good.

Did McLaren conclude that speed of deployment and closure was more important than size of the opening?

The size of the opening is a red herring in my opinion. The position of the wing in the open state is based on how they want the wing to interact with the rest of the aero when it's open. That will be different for every car.

This might also be my imagination, but in this clip you can see how early the rear wing starts to regain it's downforce. The endplates shift downwards when the wing is at the vertical position on the way to closing. This fast pressure recovery is consistent with the CFD model of this macarena direction. You get the "linear lift recovery".
