Upgrade in Singapore ? Well good luck in doing five more races with this car while Ferrari and McLaren are bringing massive update packages.

It's possible they are marginal with the budget (remember crying Toto against Ferrari's development rate), plus they surely expected to have bigger gap in the standings by this point.

Maybe te whole budget was planet with less room for upgrades than Ferrari and Mclaren, because they were too confident and by using more money on salarie and other things. And now they just cant keep up with Ferrari/Mclaren even if they would want. Its to late because the money went for other things. They will have at some point their second biggest package, but weeks and races after the other big team had their third package. And Ferrari and Mclaren will continue to upgrade. Im expecting a fourth big package for both Mclaren and Ferrari in October. It was not in Spa as they said earlier (only two track specific upgrades), it will not be Zanvoort, and it will not be Monza either. And I dont understand their atitudine with ADUO. If you can use one token in 2026 and one token in 2027 they shlould have started work on the engine since the second day when they found that they are 2% behind Red Bull. It was Monaco then, until october they could have found tiny bits of performnce onthe engine too. I dont believe their political game to keep Red Bull out of Aduo. Ferrari have 2 tokens in 2026 and another two in 2027. They will catch and overtake them if Mercedes uses only one token in 2027. And the rumour about ADUO in Monza is just a rumour, and have the same connection with reality as their second biggest package for Spa.

We saw this from 2020 into 21. Remember those allowed updates on the car but you just couldn't see them? This is giving similar vibes.

At the start of the budget cap, Toto admitted it was a big adjustment for them. Only the buying department and finance even knew what raw materials cost.

Maybe they haven't fully got to grips on the different way to operate?

This year's development race has proven key to that quest, with Mercedes yet to truly unleash an onslaught of new parts, unlike Ferrari.

Asked if a plan is in place to remain the top team, Wolff replied: "You can see that when somebody brings an upgrade, they almost like move a level up. So we had Ferrari or McLaren bringing an upgrade, and we didn't, and suddenly, we really needed to fight hard," he states.

"So yes, we will be bringing upgrades, but it all depends on when we can slot them in, because obviously you have to balance next year and this year.

"Again, the cost cap is a massive topic. How many parts can you produce and put on a car ? So it's not yet clear when."

I have no doubt Mercedes will wrap up both titles this season but it might be the case that Mercedes are ‘only’ joint fastest with 2, 3 or possibly all 4 of the top teams

Usual Mercedes:

- Ultra dominating car at start
- Catch by the others but to late for them
- While they are already on next year and will win again

The Race
- Mercedes makes software fix after Spa problems

The Mercedes Formula 1 team has made deployment software modifications ahead of this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix to help address a problem it found deep in the code on George Russell’s car in Belgium.
...
The problem that Russell faced in qualifying was related to an element deep in the code on his power unit that meant his deployment was being front-loaded around the lap.

This meant that, as part of the adjustments that are made by the algorithms to manage energy around the lap, it was more biased to using extra energy on the run to Les Combes.

This, allied to some differences in how he and Antonelli then impacted harvesting and battery usage around the middle sector, meant he was short of power for the run to the final chicane.

Having uncovered the issue in the code that got exposed in Belgium, Mercedes has put countermeasures in place from this weekend to try to make sure that there are no repeat problems.

Deployment should also not be too big a factor in Hungary as it is a much more energy-rich circuit layout.
Okay so can we can it with the idea that George was the problem?
Yes. That and the wheelspin at 318kph idea.

The Mercedes Macarena project
"Ferrari introduced it immediately at the beginning of the season," Resta commented on the Macarena winger, who reveals. "We also evaluated it last year, but for a number of technical reasons we chose not to introduce it, because we considered another approach better. This, however, does not mean that we cannot reevaluate things for the future. We are always open to reviewing our decisions".

Autoracer
Mercedes appears intent on waiting for more favourable conditions before unveiling a single, large and extensive upgrade package on the W17, most likely during the Asian swing.

It remains unclear whether the ADUO power unit update will arrive in the short term, as Brackley must inevitably also contend with the resources available.

The latest AMUS publication suggest that Mercedes is confident that their upgrades will seal the championships. I think that they will be challenged by McLaren on pace, but McLaren lost too much ground due to issues at the start of the year.

Merc’s problem is not that the car is slow or upgrades. Their problem is that the car hasn’t been reliable and if that continues to affect them, then speed doesn’t matter. The end of the season could be a lottery if reliability continues to an issue.
