He's the Honda spokesperson. It's part of his duty to present a rosy view.
The fact that it's unknowable to us doesn't mean he couldn't have lied.

These numbers seem made up.
Lying while representing a global brand isn't a very good way to represent it. I'm sorry, but I prefer to trust the Japanese more.
30 hp ice, + 30 hp electric is already an estimate, and I don't know if there is anyone who thinks it is real number. After all, the Honda boss didn't give a specific number and said they didn't gain 50 hp with new engine. But he also said it's a big step, not a small one. Looking at it from that perspective, 30 hp seems like a reasonable estimate. Until we see the results with our own eyes, read the times on the screen, and hear statements from the team, we can only make some guesses. Maybe it will be more maybe less.

I am going to ignore the rumour as Shintaro Orihara said the Honda engine met its performance targets. If it did not, then that would be a complete breach of trust.

I do not think Honda is going to repeat the mistakes of 2015 by lying.
Since we don't know what the targets were, it's impossible for him to have lied. We don't know if the performance targets were high, low or indifferent. In a round about way, he said "wait for the race to find out".
He's the Honda spokesperson. It's part of his duty to present a rosy view.
The fact that it's unknowable to us doesn't mean he couldn't have lied.
We do need to wait for the race to see good evidence though.

This is somewhat True but the issue was that the Engine was supposed to gain 60hp but they could only get 30hp out of it on filming day on track. In Superclipping or clipping they got 60hp back so were able to charge the car, just at the top end the power drops.
These numbers seem made up.
People need to realize something. Majority DOES NOT EQUAL Real. Just cause many people say stuff on twitter, doesn't mean it's true. I am not a reporter. I just post stuff I hear from my friends and Ex-coworkers, and other sources specifically on here to avoid confusion. I should mention the 30hp figures are completely baseless no matter who reports it until Sprint Quali. Yes they got 30hp out the car based on data, but it could mean they only run in lower power config or they only figured reporting highest number on the chart prolly leaked from a dyno run.

There also seems to be a misunderstanding. 60HP super clipping does not mean 30 from ice and 30 from electric. it simply means when the car enteres superclipping, the power figures of the ice jump by 60hp. so 530hp from the engine while in full power but, when super clipping is enabled it goes upto 560hp due to being able to run higher revs or something(i don't know this part). Again 60hp is a data based number, and is a also baseless once they fix the issue come dutch gp or latter.

I was just suggesting you would NOT be able to know if he lied. It's hard to make an accusation when you don't know the answer. Guess I could have worded it better.
Yep. Just for your information you can't prove a negative. For your further elucidation, Fudd's First Law of Opposition states: 'If you push it hard enough it will fall over'. But that's a whole other topic....

So many keep wanting to spew bad news(Italian rumormill) about Honda
I do not think AutoRacer are 'that' kind of publication. They may be wrong sometimes, but not purposely wrong in such a way.

Wonder if it's drivability, software related. Ironically the topic you guys were talking about a couple pages back. :)

Very strategic use of the filming day at least. To be honest it's become a bit of a farce, de facto test session. But I guess if everyone takes advantage of it, no one's going to complain...

This is smile worthy. Speaking in the name of a global brand has to be one of the most dishonest tasks. It's all about toeing the corporate line.

You mean to say friends, co-workers who work in F1 circles?

Well, +60hp is the most optimistic of rumors. I guess we should clearly see such a big jump, if it happens.

Whether it ends up being such figure or another, if Honda delivers a decent step in Zandvoort it will already be much better than 2015. don't see the point of this post., just pissing off the Honda fans here for no reason. Let's be mature please.

It was a pointer to a possible scenario.
One much more likely than a positive one.
Hope I am wrong, but this Honda&Alonso we are talking about, it's cursed.

Curses are just another form of superstition. Honda has their core team reunited from the early 2020s and even have some Aston Martin engineers assisting at Sakura.

In 2015, Honda had a small team of inexperienced engineers who were not up to the task. The situations are not comparable.

Just want to qualify the "even have some Aston Martin engineers assisting at Sakura." Remember those guys are there for integration. They are not there to help develop the PU. They're there to make sure Honda and AMR F1 are rowing in the same direction.

Finally AM did something they should have done from the start.

The situation is very representative of what Mclaren did with Honda back then. This is a bespoke supplier, no one is going to leak chassis details to another team, not that there was a good chassis anyway.

Cannot wait for the next weekend!!

This break felt so much longer when Aston Martin's first decent car of the season debuted before it.
