Hamilton doesn’t develop cars, he drives the cars developed by a big number of aerodynamicists and engineers, complains about handling, to which they respond.

Same as every other driver on the grid.
It should be obvious to everyone here that drivers have very very little to do with ultimate car performance. There are so many contradictions that it is hilarious.
1. Is Kimi the greatest of all time? He has managed to get Mercedes back on track and beyond in just a year and he is a teenager!
2. Is Oscar also in contention to be the GOAT? He joins in 2023 and Mclaren go from mid fielders straight to the very top in 6-7 races. He was also the one more comfortable at the start of 2025 when the car was dominant.

In both those cases, it should be obvious that the team valued their teammate's opinion more while those cars were being designed. Like is probably the case for the 2026 car at Ferrari

Everyone knows this but lose their mind when it comes to their favorite driver.

OR - as the McLaren drivers pointed out multiple times last year - the team designed the fastest car around a track and told both their highly paid drivers to go drive it. And one of the drivers adapted slightly faster than the other.

I'm disappointed Ferrari couldn't go after Verstappen, it would have been fitting for him to follow in Schumacher's footsteps and would have been nice to say the two best drivers of all time raced for the team.

But Jim Clark never raced for Ferrari...

A friend of mine, now retired from F1, enjoys telling tales of race engineering for well-known drivers and at test sessions having the driver demand some change or other. Knowing the change was silly, they'd just tell the driver they had made the change and he would almost inevitably report back that the car was improved.

Much is made of drivers developing cars - especially Schuie who, in some fan circles, almost designed the cars as well as raced them.

It will be interesting to know how much they try to accommodate the drivers and I bet it differs depending on how successful said driver has been overall in their career.

I remember Hamilton complaining about the Mercedes in 2022, to which I’m sure the engineers at Mercedes responded because I think they even moved the cockpit further back to make him comfortable, but it made no difference at the end.

This is a weird forum...when Lewis does well it's very cagey...when Charles does well he's the toast of ferrari...you know why Charles isn't a champion...he only ever tries to beat his team mate..
Thats his only accolade. 2022 was an easy ferrari wdc...but he choked. Oh well...

0.055 is mighty impressive given the current engine deficit.

The weirdest thing about this forum is your unprovoked attack on Charles for having the gall to outqualify Lewis in a sprint.

Lewis' worse quali of the season, he was competitive in fp1 but now doesnt seem happy, complained of cold tires before the lap and said it was a completely different car in that session, after they put on the new floor. Wonder if he'll do a setup change before the sprint

Charles was P1 at turn 13, with a 0.2s advantage over Russell and 0.12s over Norris. But when it came to the final energy deployment, there was nothing left:

Russell at 317km/h,
Lando at 307km/h,
Charles at 302km/h…

who said Ferrari is 0,1s behind Mercedes powerwise??
