That's a weird crash. It's the kind of crash one would expect from the first car to pass that corner. Verstappen had cars in front as reference.

Possibly to do with deployment but he clearly went too tight to the inside of the track.

Verstappen was the first RBPT powered car to the corner and Bortoleto was the first Audi.

He just went too low and took a lot of risk because the car is slow.

He was right down low and even on the paint. That’s dodgy ground in US oval racing in the dry, never mind in F1 on a damp track.

Looked like a simple driver error - got the inside tyres slightly on the paint/kerb. Happens to even the best drivers.
If you are more fortunate than others, build a larger table not a taller fence.

Tires don't really seem to be working for anyone* today. Gasly is setting similar times as the podium
