It wouldn't have made much of a difference. Alonso got lucky with the two VSCs, and Gasly and TSU getting stuck behind Sainz after they pitted. Otherwise, they would have been up on Alonso about 10 laps earlier. He might have had to pit earlier from the softs, and the hard tires would have been more worn. It would have changed the whole race.
So yes, let's take the 9th place, but remember that the pace advantage over Alpine and Racing Bulls came mainly from Sainz holding them up.
