I think he had the pace, especially in the second half, to have a very easy win. Made it hard for himself and who knows, on another scenario, he might not even win this type of race. And that's how you lose 7 points which may very well be crucial at the end of the season. He needs to not lose out on the starts if he wants a realistic chance of a comeback this year.Ground Effect wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 17:20He won the race, so of course he redeemed the start. I wouldn't mind him losing the lead at the start every race if he's race winner at the end.Emag wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 17:08Not gonna lie, I thought this would have been another Lando Norris special, i.e, lose a race from P1 because of a bad start.
But the pace has been phenomenal on the second half. Again.
Doesn't redeem the start in my opinion, he has to fix that at some point because it almost cost him two wins between Budapest and here.
We seem to deploy the PU different here due to the gearing ratio. On high fuel and the softer tyres we don’t we seem to be that competitive. But the hards and low fuel was just epic. Close to the fastest lap of LEC that was set on softs. Car just goes into the sweet spotEmag wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 17:23I think he had the pace, especially in the second half, to have a very easy win. But other than that, I have nothing to say to this race. Completely outclassed his teammate and he was clinical when he needed to be. Pace in general over the last two races has been phenomenal.
Hello there.
The issue is that Piastri just can't keep tires alive or judge their durability. He said his hards didn't feel better than mediums (durability wise). This is a major issue for McLaren as it usually makes sense to put the second driver on long hail mary strategies.
He is just not the guy to nurse tires.101FlyingDutchman wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 16:05Why take PIA in when the hard pace was very very solid. Let the offset build
Yes, I agree. And looking back, that missed win in Miami hurts even more now.
I would be shocked if the car is best at Monza.Darth-Piekus wrote: ↑23 Aug 2026, 17:59Lando is 83 points behind Antonelli at the moment and if I'm correct we have 9 or 10 races to go. If Mclaren is still best at Monza do you think he can still make a comeback?
