Someone correct me if Im wrong, but I think the new gearbox is just reduced weight? If it hasn't arrived yer maybe there's a chance it comes with the weight reduction, but no idea.
from what was initially said by the team, i think that the hungary upgrade was supposed to include a new lighter gearbox casing. i dont think they ever said anything about bringing an entirely new gearbox, or changing its internals in any way (officially)

So I'm not very optimistic about Honda's rate of development.
GLAS Trust Corporation Limited, representing as Security Agent / Security Trustee, actually have got a charge over the entire group of companies under AMR. And these include the properties, cars, IP etc. Which mean the entire team is somewhat pledge to lender for loan. And this is very significant and this mean Lawrence Stroll technically doesn't own the team until the US$400 million loan at 10% per annum is fully paid.diffuser wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 02:08By your definition of a manufacturer team, AM wasn't never one. AM never gave anything more than paying for naming rights. Which. As you mentioned, Stroll reversed recently as a way to give money to them without paying taxes. I think Stroll bought both AM and race india for cheap and he thought he could leverage the synergy between a car company and F1 to promote the sales of the cars. He clearly cares about F1 much more. I'm not sure why it matters.CHT wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 01:24
A manufacturer team to me is a team which car manufacturer has got a stake in the team. e.g AMG Merc, Ferrari, Audi. AMR is now a F1 team with AM branding rights which they purchased.
Reason for the stake sales is to help solve the liquidity problem at Aston Martin Lagonda. Lawrence is selling AM "branding rights" to AMR shareholders for ridiculous amount that cost AML nothing, while getting paid and enjoy brand exposure for nothing.
AMR too are also facing liquidity challenges, which is why over the years they kept issuing new shares for new shareholders and appointing them as new directors in exchange loan or cash injection.
Woody Johnson’s primary objective as Vice Chairman is to drive the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team's commercial growth, specifically in the United States market.
The focus of this expansion centers on several
key revenue and brand areas:
Sponsorship & Corporate Partnerships: Leveraging his extensive network across corporate America and major league sports to land high-value U.S.-based sponsors. (SportsMint Media)
Cross-Sport Synergies: Creating strategic business, promotional, and marketing crossover between F1, the NFL (via his ownership of the New York Jets), and European football (via his stake in Crystal Palace FC).
(SportsMint Media)
Hospitality & Fan Engagement: Expanding premium VIP hospitality revenue and building the team's fan base across North American races (Austin, Miami, and Las Vegas). (TheTicket)
His involvement is purely on the commercial, marketing, and investment side—he has no role in the day-to-day management or technical operations of the racing team. So buys shares so he can drive there value up with his work. Kind of like Newey, except Newey was given shares.
That being said, that isn't my opinion. It's just what I read.
Yeah, like I said before, there was never any gearbox problems. The drivability issues caused shifting problems. Like they returned in Zandvoort.
its a labrynth because people keep making sh#t up then repeating it like its real. thats alletusch wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 16:30Sometimes we're like in a labyrinth, going around in circles. Aston's transmission also has issues because it's their first time producing them. Even though Red Bull has been own gearbox for years, and they are top-class technical team, they sometimes experience synchronization and downshifting issues.
This season, Aston's first transmission, and their first transmission coincide with a season where downshifting is more important than ever. Seamless transmissions were originally designed for perfect upshifting as the primary function, and downshifting wasn't as crucial as upshifting. But now, downshifting is also important.
Who are you to judge whether who is making stuff up or not. It's just that speculating is fun instead of waiting to see what happens which would be the logical choice. But that is the case everywhere.zoroastar wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 18:05its a labrynth because people keep making sh#t up then repeating it like its real. thats alletusch wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 16:30Sometimes we're like in a labyrinth, going around in circles. when the team spokesman comes out a week prior and says they are happy with their gearbox, that can usually be a pretty good indicator that in the least, the gearbox is very low on their problem list. if you enjoy a "tech forum" to be full of people just makin stuff up to fit their narrative, well you are part of the reason this place is just a mud slinging contest anymore. the least people can do is offer a link to back up their opinion.KimiRai wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 18:28Who are you to judge whether who is making stuff up or not. I don't think his thoughts were "sh#t". It was a pretty well reasoned post, right or not. I disagree that everything has to come with a link, AFAIK you are allowed to use your brain and not only repeat what someone else has already said, god forbid.zoroastar wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 18:40when the team spokesman comes out a week prior and says they are happy with their gearbox, that can usually be a pretty good indicator that in the least, the gearbox is very low on their problem list. if you enjoy a "tech forum" to be full of people just makin stuff up to fit their narrative, well you are part of the reason this place is just a mud slinging contest anymore. the least people can do is offer a link to back up their opinion.
I don't really want to get into things like this. But if you're someone who thinks no one can judge another, then act according to your opinion. If you have an opinion, you're the only one who has to abide by it. Others can accept it or not.
i agree that what he says doesnt sound "illogical", but its also stated as a fact. its not a fact. as a matter of FACT, theres quite a bit of evidence that its just wrong in the overall problems with the engine. in a one off i wouldnt have a problem with a statement like that as much, but this forum is full of theories that are put off as facts and it snowballs. half the people that read each one of those posts now think the gearbox is bad, or the rear suspension is a problem or whatever else. now it confuses whats fact and fiction. opinions need to be said as opinions, if youre gonna go against what the previous 5 people have said, it should have some evidence (a link, or just say where it came from). or it could just be stated as an opinion, but people with narratives dont want it to sound like an opinion. they are shaping whats real and whats not for whatveer reason they got.KimiRai wrote: ↑27 Aug 2026, 18:50I don't think his thoughts were "sh#t".
