Alonso waiting till November too see if Honda has improved in regards to renewing his contract. Clearly underwhelmed currently
Alonso is already 45 years old and he will retire soon. The question do you will continue to support Aston here?
I’ll speak for myself and probably for a lot of other people, too. NO; half the people here are here because they’re Alonso fans, and if anyone doesn’t like it, they can simply ignore it. The truth is that Honda has embarrassed itself once again, and unfortunately, there won’t be time for us to see Alonso in a decent team. Yes, this forum would have half the discussions or maybe even fewer once Alonso leaves this team.
Same thing happened when Lewis moved to Ferrari... interactions on Merc social media went down with him gone. Same will happen when Max moves teams. That's the way F1 is.

Alonso reported his seat being hot in the last minutes of FP2 and didn't go for practice starts. Did the team mention any engine heating issues to him during the session??

That probably has to do more with general temps at Monza being hot and not with the ICE.

Dude, it's FP2. Stop freeking out. Wait to see if they can get it straightened for qualifying.

They did say that most of Monza will be used to improve drivability.

The FIA has only confirmed that Honda has a deficit higher than 4% and therefore qualifies for two additional homologations in 2026 and 2027, but not in which exact bracket it falls, it could theoretically be more than 10% (even though I doubt it)
At 10% they would qualify for 4 ADUO updates, instead of 2.
That’s incorrect.

Above 4%, they get 2 ADUOs for this season and 2 for the next season, regardless of whether they have a deficit above 10%.

BUT… there are additional tiers for cost cap allowances that can go up to ≥10% deficit for the maximum cost cap allowance related to ADUO engine upgrades.

The problem is that the exact deficit percentages for each manufacturer are strictly confidential, so we don’t know the actual figures.
I guess it's just more budget and testing then.

AM leaped forward in performance. Honda is still last and least, by a good margin...
The rather modest criticism is well merited.

That's exactly what I'm talking about. Even back in the McLaren days, the team and its blind supporters had the same attitude. If something good happened, it only went to McLaren; if something bad happened, it only went to Honda.

The team moved forward, and this is solely Aston's success. they already had the best chassis and if they had merc engine, they would definitely be competing for the championship.

Seems like Ferrari has improved a lot on the electrical side. I think it’s where Honda is struggling the most?

It seems still not 30hp unless miracle fix for FP3. On to Madring.

It's a tad optimistic to think AM has the best chassis. But the Monza power related gap might be 1 second on more, with the sort of HP gaps that are claimed.

Lawrence Stroll and shareholders are struggling to keep Aston Martin Lagonda afloat and AMR performance on track will inevitable affect the branding of Aston Martin road car, especially in US market.

Honda has got only 2 cars on the grid and one of it is driven by the son of the CEO. The fact the AM has to come with a ligher spec B car does show that the problem in the team is not just down to Honda.

If AM is serious about fixing the team, they should first replace Lance Stroll with a more experience and deserving driver for development and to help motivate Alonso.

As expected this is going to be a tough weekend for the team. Hopefully Honda can work on the drivability issues some more in FP3, and then unlock some more performance out of the engine. One second slower than Williams and tied with Cadillac for last, is not an encouraging start to the weekend. But let’s wait and see if Honda can do extra bench work overnight to get some more power and deployment for Qualifying. Obviously this is a one stop race for the team, and go as long as possible hoping for a safety car to go their way to have any shot of a decent finish here. Madrid is only a week away and that might be a better track for this underpowered car.

I am also an Alonso fan which is why I am here, and it is certainly not because of Lance Stroll , or the team. I support drivers more than teams, and follow them where they go, which I think a lot of fans do. As an Aussie I support the home team drivers like Oscar, but I have always enjoyed Alonso’s driving, and appreciate what he is still able to do at 45 years old. I think he is still in the top 5 drivers on the grid and it is why Aston should do everything they can to keep him. Sainz signing on to Williams, and Max staying at Red Bull mean Aston Martin have very few good options to replace him for 2027. Yuki Tsunoda might be a possibility with the Honda connection, but is he the driver to lead your team with Adrien Newey? Jak Crawford? Esteban Ocon might be replaced by Jack Doohan or Rafael Câmara so perhaps he is a possibility for a 1 year deal. If Liam Lawson gets shoved out at Racing Bulls for Tsolov, then he would be the best option out of these. Alonso and his management know all of this which is why they are asking for a reported 40m euro a year deal. That is the medicine Alonso needs to drive this tractor again for another season I guess. 😅

“Straight-line speed, it’s considerable,” Hamilton, who ended the day fifth fastest and nearly half a second behind pacesetter Russell, replied when asked what Ferrari’s main limitation was on Friday.

Asked if the issue is purely power related, or whether it could be solved by reducing downforce on the car, Hamilton said: “That's what we need to look into - if it's that, or if it's deployment.

"The engine is an improvement, which I'm really grateful for the guys back at the factory for working on. But our deployment schedule is different to the others, our competitors.
It seems like they maybe have less drag for the straights, so it's something we need to definitely look at tonight.”

It's normal to assume that those who focus solely on one thing, or point to only one thing, in a situation where other people are looking everywhere, have malicious intentions.

To post something like this, you're either really drinking the kool-aid or just being disingenuous.
