Max said tyres were too cold, but they just came out of the blankets and he ran straight through the 1st chicane and then couldn't catch up to the MCLs.

McLaren pulled away the entire outlap, they were really pushing it. RB was way too eager to be near the front of the pack.

Should be 5th after Oscar gets a 3 place pen. If it turns out Max has good pace this could be another Austria type race where Russell escapes out front due to early battling. He needs to make one or two positions at the start.

It's P5 with 1 weaker(we assume) car at the front in Gasly, who know what his race pace will be like. But then Ferrari's will be very fast too, difficult to see a podium, P4 is everything goes as expected.

Also, the new front wing endplate update they brought, didn't even get more than a couple of runs in practice because it was so bad and lacked downforce. Max complained just after 1 lap.

Weirdly enough, this was the best qualy performance since Monaco, 7 GPs ago, in terms of gap to the leader.

I think if the car held together, Max had a shot at pole. Everyone was kind of guaranteed a tow from Antonelli, so it shouldn't have been an issue but it fell apart after Q1 for them.
I know it doesn't mean much as a whole for the season in general, but having the best ICE certainly helps in a track like this.

"It depends a bit: something jams or something breaks, something different every time. But there was a problem again in qualifying."

Cause of the problem

"I think I know where it is, but we suffer from it quite often. Then the car starts bouncing and doesn't handle bumps well anymore, because the suspension just isn't working properly. You lose time with that."

"There's nothing you can do about it. In qualifying, you're not allowed to touch the car. But I have to say that the balance was a bit better in the third practice session than it is now in qualifying. However, if you really have to push hard, you get understeer in the middle of the corner. Then you just lose time, of course. But if we hadn't had the problems at the rear where something is seizing up, it actually still looks pretty good."

My assumption is that ever since the aggressive weight reduction in Austria, multiple components have been wearing off quicker than expected and have been causing them various problems ever since.
