Strange, I mean the upgrade was ages ago and there seems to be no fix whatsoever?
Well the issue seems fine early on in most sessions, and they hardly change the chassis every session since they only have a few chassis units per season. This feels like a suspension issue to me. The reference to kerb strikes, issues in previous years (ever since the ban on inerters), and deteriorating performance throughout the session speaks to something dynamic within the suspension. Maybe the dampers are too heat sensitive?
Yes naturally I am aware of that, but it could be prone to heat deformation (or elasticity) or something similar, that is why I included the chassis in my theory. The fact it keeps occurring, instead of them simply changing other smaller pieces like the dampers you mention, could also point to it being chassis (unless they don't even know what causes it!). Other things you mentioned are all pretty valid possibilities as well, I only hope they have identified the issue by now.
Not impossible, but with a brand new chassis design for this year it's odd that it lingers. Also the complaints seem to be in low speed corners where the forces operating on the chassis are relatively low. If the chassis is deforming in a 70 kph chicane we would see bigger issues at higher speed. My bet is on the dampers struggling to cope at temperature and then falling out of their optimal operation at lower speeds. Maybe something about RB's suspension geometry that is asking too much from them.Rikhart wrote: ↑06 Sep 2026, 11:40Yes naturally I am aware of that, but it could be prone to heat deformation (or elasticity) or something similar, that is why I included the chassis in my theory. Since he's been implying that it is there for years, could it be haunting them since 2023 and low speed thingy?Badger wrote: ↑06 Sep 2026, 12:05Not impossible, but with a brand new chassis design for this year it's odd that it lingers. If Max likes his car he will call it a rocketship, if the car is sh** he will call it sh**. He just says what he thinks. Lewis saying that stuff was for strategic reasons to throw off competitors in race.FittingMechanics wrote: ↑06 Sep 2026, 15:25I'm always amazed how negative Verstappen is about the car, saying car has built in problems for years and yet we have Verstappen fighting for championship last year and getting podiums this year. I do get that he wants perfection but it's hard to take him seriously when a podium capable car is pure --- to him.
Kind of like Hamilton used to complain his tires are gone and then get fastest lap.
