McLaren has to have the best 'floor' on the grid, I reckon.
If they plan to run this small a wing, despite the use of SLM that will open the wing on straights, they have to be confident that this RW is enough for Lesmo1-2, Ascari and Parabolica, in this non-ground-effect era (the era that maximized the DF from the floor). Well done, Peter Prodromou.

I wonder what the two big "painter's pallet" switches are used for.

I don't know the answer, but the "transverse" paddles look to be 4 in total, with presumably gear +/- plus clutch (lower two) that conventionally would be there. You can see 4 switches behind them (operating by paddle in "pull" orientation) and likely there in conventional ergonomic/continual access usage.

The two "rotational" larger black paddles appearing wired through switches as red & green identifying into loom .... possibly wing open / close manual overrides ? as they are at odds to hand position ergonomics (shift paddles really convenient) and could be secondary use in less frequency of deployment.

Or maybe overtake mode function could be through that implementation.

Interesting to get a look at them though.

In adding additional information to this view:- during Spanish GP there was conversation (WJ & LN) about overtake mode during which there was instruction to, I'll paraphrase "use overtake and left paddle in braking" which sounds like it refers to these two extra control on steering column, which don't appear to rotate with wheel.
