Lol, what is going on with this forum.
Alonso is talking with FIA president about rules that would need changing for him to remain in F1 in 2027. Fact. Reported.

All I am doing is speculating on what else is left that they could do to help Honda and the team become competitive.

Honda have already been granted this season additional help within the rules. Now they are looking at even more.

What I am saying is that I don't see what else is remaining really. The next step might be BoP or is Alonso asking Ben to talk to Merc to force a supply for 2027?

Stop calling it 'Ford engine'.
Redbull's engine is made mainly by ex-Mercedes-HPP + ex-Honda guys, with Ford stepping in to offer their 'facilities' for development/testing. The engine development core team isn't Ford engineering at all.

I don't know what new thing is getting discussed in this thread (it's been 418 pages) that is different from what was discussed around the Bahrain test ? This thread is going in circles, and 90% of the posts are bitching about Honda or bitching about Adrian Newey. There is nothing meaningful being discussed, IMHO.
The PU team and the chassis team HAVE BLUNDERED FROM THE START. Now because they are 'sub-optimal' to each other, they can't work their fixes through, on track, because the chassis limits the PU and the PU limits the chassis, making on-track data pointless. The only way to 'fix' is to leave the AMR26 to it's fate and put all the human effort and money (whatever is left of it) into AMR27. That's it, game over.
What is the purpose of comparing sector times, top speeds, deployment level etc with the cars from the other 9 teams (not including cadillac) ? The reference itself is mismatched. It's pointless do any 'relative performance' grading with any other car. Making such comparisons (like it happens in the team threads of the other 9 teams) over metrices like top speed / sector times / min.cornering speed of AMR26 against other cars is like checking the height of an elphant against a giraffe - it doesn't matter how accurate the measuring tape is, the comparison is meaningless.

ALO very mad about lack of power in radio. Later words are more diplomatic to the press, but its a mask. IMO the reason he has not renewed yet.
"With this engine, we cannot do the same program as the cars in front"

"Yeh, that is the problem, of this engine"

"It’s better to stop, you know? And try again next week"
I think it's time for him to retire. It's too painful for everyone. For him, first of all—he's going to wreck his hands. For his engineer, too—the poor guy is suffering, even though he didn't ask for this. And finally, for us watching it.
I think it's what makes him great. It's the passion to win to push hard. If Honda had some of that from 2022 to 2025, we might not find ourselves in this situation.

What you see as a weakness is actually a great strength.

In a world like Formula 1, you’re going to be praised and rewarded by marketing when you come in and win or show strength right from the first impression. Honda was a shame 10 years ago and needed to recover from it, taking more than half a decade to do so. And what would you expect now? A medal recognizing them for a great job?

Honda is an incredible and historic brand, and they’re repeating the same from 10 years ago. They absolutely deserve to be publicly exposed and held accountable. The chassis isn’t the best either, but you can clearly see from the telemetry that the engine is an absolute disgrace.

Ford and Audi are also in their first year, and they are light-years ahead. It doesn’t matter what Honda has or hasn’t done in the past — they are also in their first year, and they are putting in a decent performance. Honda, regardless of the circumstances, should at least have been able to deliver something comparable. Honda isn’t even delivering the bare minimum.
You forget that Audi and RBPT as new entries got:

Extra financial allowance: roughly $10m in each of the first two years and $5m in the third was the framework discussed for a new manufacturer, specifically to help establish the operation.

Extra CapEx flexibility: concessions around the huge capital investment required to build a new PU facility. This was particularly important for RBPT, which was building its operation from scratch.

Some additional dyno/testing allowance associated with New PU Manufacturer status.

Regulatory exemptions/relaxations related to establishing a new PU operation, including infrastructure and experience criteria. The FIA specifically created New PU Manufacturer status for this purpose.

In reality, Honda should have asked for some of these concessions cause the team was mostly new people.

Early on in FP3 Alonso complained that the deployment in Sector 3 was not right. That was before the first red flag before he set his best time of FP3. I'm not sure if they had time to adjust the deployment in S3 for FP3.

When the second Red flag fell Alonso was testing a Map setting. They never got to test it.

It's a concerted effort to annoy you. We can all stop guys, he finally noticed!

BTW, no Honda R&D people went to RBPTs.

I do not know in which world Mike Krack was, when he said that this track will suit us.

We should have beaten both Williams, but no way Alonso could have 9vertaken anyone else, no matter what he did

Alonso said yesterday in the press they will need to do something different on strategy compared to the others, so I can see them starting on softs for two reasons. One, not to get caught out by an early safety car with the hards. Two, to pit early and run in clean air away from the Williams cars.

Doubtful enough cars ahead will crash tomorrow but who knows here.

I'm not sure why they could redo the 1:35.020 from FP3..

S3 in FP3 was 31.397...in Q1 it was 31.952. Why did we lose .6 in that last sector ?

That's one of my concerns for the race. One of the strength is tire wear and accidents with VSC, safety cars and red flags can take away that advantage by decreasing the time it takes to pit to changing tires.
