"McLaren came here with a lot of confidence having won on similar-ish track layouts in Hungary and Zandvoort but a gearbox failure they haven't seen before, with Lando Norris' car, was somewhat unexpected.
"They changed it and Norris' car is ready to go now. You'd expect him to go out in this P3 session and do some of the long runs he missed to get the crucial tyre understanding he missed in free practice two - but McLaren say they are not going to do that.
"Yes, he will go quite early, but they say what's done is done, what's lost is lost, and now they have to concentrate on Qualifying like they normally would in any free practice three session.
"So I think the penalty for Norris from missing that free practice two mileage will come on Sunday."

They could be thinking this is a tough race to overtake and qualifying will be crucial.

On other news. Do you think the car can get pole if Norris does one of his magical laps?

It's going to be about stringing 3 clean sectors together rather than one magical lap. Also avoid blocking penalties

It will be very hard to avoid a blocking penalty here. Im afraid something will happen here. Hopefully Mclaren will escape unscathed.

I am not sure if we can get pole. We need a perfect lap and I think the Red Bull and Mercedes are slightly ahead of us. Not sure how Norris or Piastri can find 2 tenths.

From what I see at the moment the fastest car is Red Bull today then the Mercedes, then the Ferrari and then us. Unless something changes I think at best we can get a 3rd row.
