Front wing change and softs for Alonso under VSC. Only car on softs.
Still running same pace as Albon with 15-20 points less downforce. Starting on hards was illogical.

More than 75% of the cars started on hards.

Lance was in the race just long enough to screw his team mate.

Awful start from Fernando anyway
Clutch issues this weekend. I know you are very critical but you need to know the context.

More critical of Honda and the strategy (hards for a 18 lap stint?!) than anything else.

Alosno asked FIA president for Mercedes switch for Aston Martin next year.

They must prefer those over the mediums for whatever reason.

The obvious gamble would be start on softs or mediums and hope for an early SC or red flag and try to go to the end on hards with their good tire deg. This was hopeless.

not sure how changing the tires makes any difference with the clutch slipping at the start. Nor how it helps with the floor damage that is now probably costing .5 seconds per lap.

Bearman just took the medium off after 10 laps.

100% of the cars have more horsepower too. I mentioned this yesterday about starting on softs and then running long with hards.

Yeah, starting near the back with way less power than anyone else you can't do the same. Have to gamble.

Strategy aside, how's the race pace compared to others around?

Due to damage, the car has 15-20 points less downforce. Race pace is slow.

After the Sainz incident, only chance was a safety car to regroup the whole field. Then again downforce loss due to contact and near impossibility to overtake due to engine deficit means even if it happened it wouldn't have mattered much. But no luck anyways. Weekend to forget (as will be what remains of this year with few exceptions)
