By the way, Lando nearly lapped Oscar and he absolutely would have if it wasn't for the unlucky VSC.
There will still be some that will diminish this performance and call McLaren a rocketship just because it's Lando doing it ...

If the car is that much faster in the race, then it is a rocketship. Its not like zero race pace and Lando put it on pole out of nowhere. The car has the pace.

I have no problem with the statement. I have a problem when people don't apply this logic consistently for everyone. I have always said that a car is as good as its best driver can push it. If a car won the race, it was good enough to win (most of the time). Even today, Kimi actually had very good pace on clean air, but he was by far the most inconsistent of the top 3. Lost a lot of time over the course of the GP.

The car looked strong here. I'd go so far as to say we'll be good anywhere except where there is an excess of straights.

Vegas and Baku will be struggles. Parts of Baku will be good but S3 will be a killer.

However, with longer gears and a longer wheelbase to make the car more rounded, this car might have been a consistent challenger for podiums without winning.

The chassis and aero still has work to do, it's just that those fixed traits flatter the performance on certain tracks.

That's very much worth remembering. We're not quite as close as we'd like, just yet.

Thing is if the track was more open like Austria he would have sailed past Max and Kimi. So for me Norris is driver of the day for what he tried to save.

I just don't understand how do they invest hundreds of millions into a circuit where there is NO possibility to overtake. Holy incompetence, crazy. What a horrible layout.

World class drive by norris once again, nothing more he could have done, unlucky with the VSC ...thats racing sometimes. Impressed with the post race interview....last year would have been picking him up off the floor. His growth this year has been impressive to watch.

I never understood who was the idiot inside the FIA who decided for a VSC when a double yellow was enough considering Stroll all had to do was reverse as he didnt crash.
