Honda Power Unit Hardware & Software

All that has to do with the power train, gearbox, clutch, fuels and lubricants, etc. Generally the mechanical side of Formula One.

you are projecting your own desires and expectation on honda, they knew what they were doing when they put inexperienced staff on their new pu project ,just because some fan with no skin in the game want to see their best team do well that it does not follow that honda share the same goal as you.honda has said numerous time it wants its engineers learn to work together learn from their mistake and find solution to their own problems without help from outside, for a large cooperation trophies and euphoria from winning does not do anything for them ,thats why i think honda would be better if they own there team since the goal and timeline for success will always clash with team they partner with.
I understand what you mean, though it is certain that your statements are incorrect. Honda also aims to win; they are simply more patient.
I also agree with what you said about their working methods. I heard this from an academic who had conducted research in both Korea and the US through his university. He recounted a story about a software project where the team got stuck at a certain point; when he suggested asking a professor for help, no one agreed. They objected, arguing that doing so would imply an admission of failure—that they couldn't handle the task—and consequently, they wasted a lot of time trying to solve it themselves. The man had remarked that if they didn't work inefficiently due to overwork and get stuck on such issues, no one could compete with them because they are working working and working.
That same academic said that in the US, students would go straight to the professor without hesitation to ask about the parts where they were stuck, and both parties viewed this as their duties.
In my own professional life, I also witness how working without breaks can prevent one from spotting even the simplest errors.
I also watched a documentary on Deutsche Welle. An engineer who had founded a company focused on hydrogen fuel discussed how the German government had announced support packages for companies developing hydrogen-powered engines, suggesting that the Germans would now be prioritizing hydrogen projects as well. One of the interesting things he said was this: Toyota and Hyundai have had hydrogen-powered vehicles driving on German streets for ten years. They have been investing in this technology for a long time, and their CEOs do not expect immediate profits from it. In contrast, he noted that in Germany, if a CEO launches a project but fails to show results on the income statement within two years, they get fired.
I say this all the time, but I don't think the Mercedes engine truly belongs to Mercedes. The same goes for Red Bull's. However, Ferrari and Honda have their own engines. Ferrari’s advantage, compared to Honda, is its greater flexibility in turning to outside sources. In my opinion, Ferrari’s approach is the ideal one: the engine is a Ferrari engine and the engineers are Ferrari engineers, yet they are sufficiently open to acquiring knowledge from elsewhere. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Knowledge becomes yours once you acquire it—regardless of its origin. That said, there is perhaps an added sense of pride when both elements are truly your own. Despite everything, I love the Japanese work, even if sometimes I feel strange due to cultural differences.

So I guess your saying, we should give up on Honda cause all the ADUO extra funding and dyno time is going to Honda and Aramco is the problem. so no mater how much Honda work on this they don't have the ability to fix the problem.

BTW those all sound like excuses that someone would make that started on their homework late. A bunch of problems they needed to fix, that everyone else already did.
Perhaps it is more reasonable to view it this way: Aramco needs to work on achieving the specific characteristics and stability required to meet the demands of Honda's engine design. Yet, the most critical factors are behavioral stability and compatibility with the current engine formula.
Just consider scenarios where fuel behavior changes with engine speed, flame propagation isn't fast enough at high speeds, or the fuel's behavior causes flame jets out of control. Even if one cannot say for certain that these things are happening, considering them is essential. But looking at the situation as it stands, why might someone who succeeded with the previous formulation have failed with this one? What changed.
IMHO, for over 100 years, the ICE has been about how to get the most out of fuel. If you change the fuel from one set of regulations to the next, where are your challenges going to be? It doesn't mean the fuel is bad ; it's just different. Nobody is running the same fuel as in 2025.

The compression ratio has been dropped , and the FIA has removed the tool that Honda was using to determine how close the ICE was to pinging. The last two changes alone would have required a completely new approach to combustion for Honda. So combustion as a whole has changed drastically in F1. So where do these changes cause problems, in the combustion. It's not just the fuel that changed. Engineers' jobs are to resolve those kinds of problems. So when you hear about all the issues they've been having with combustion and the fuel, I'm not surprised. That is the challenge for this set of regs.

People have short memory or it was before their time.

1980's F1 Era
It was about the FUEL.

More Important now than with the last engine formula that used a MGU-H and fossil fuel.

Looks like Honda is going to have to take on another task...Fuel

well unlike 2014-25 there is no pursuit of high energy fuel as fuel energy is now capped (though not fuel weight)

yes there is now a much greater renewability burden (than the 5 or 10% biofuel content in 2014-25)

Is there a suggestion that Aramco fuel is inferior to ExxonMobil?

Obviously there is no possibility for Aston Martin Racing to use a different fuel supplier.

Yes. A forum member is the origin though, by the looks of it.

Honda can R&D the fuel and either make it their self and brand it Aramco or let Aramco make it. Honda has been R&D Bio fuels for a long time.

Which, IMHO, makes the Aramco fuel being a problem even less likely.

Agreed entirely. Honda made a lot of noise about coming up with the optimum composition for it's engine in the last regs at Sakura and the fact it used unconventional molecules, then gave that to Mobil who approved it and started manufacturing it. So they are very much involved in the fuel, so it's quite unlikely we have a fuel issue. Especially when we have a clear and candid picture of where Honda believe they lost performance in the ICE with these regs.

Could you explain the logic behind the idea that fuel cannot be a problem simply because Honda is involved in fuel development? How can you assume absolute success in the realm of fuel when Honda—a company specializing in mechanics—can still fail in the engine department? How do you manage that?

I think it's more like, if there is a fuel issue, it isn't just Amaraco on the hook to solve it.

AGAIN...

Saud fuel is a MAJOR PROBLEM.
If you dealt with them then you would understand people are afraid to share the truth about the situation.
Honda F1 Leaders been giving little public clues about it in the HOPE that the Sauds invest more and get better people involved.
My educated guess is Honda Engineers have very little say on the fuel design!!!
That NEEDS to Change!!!

Someone just mentioned that Honda came up with formulations in the last regs. Claiming they have no say is just ludicrous. The needs of the engine is what sets the demands on the formulation (within the confines of the regulations).

There was always a fuel supplier that was light years ahead of the rest.
Also it is very hard to just make F1 fuel from scratch like AM-Honda fuel supplier is doing.
Honda will tell them what they want but can a first grader make it?

You do realize this 100% sustainable fuel is new for everyone ? so everyone else can make if from scratch but not Aramco ?
