The way Hadjar just cruised past Charles down the straight is embarrassing after 2 ADUO upgrades. The strategy of deliberately sabotaging engine performance for questionably useful aero gains has been thoroughly discredited. Horner has his detractors, some of which is because he stood up to Toto and fought him politically to a level nobody else was able to do. Looking at his track record he's the greatest TP in modern F1 since Ross Brawn and it's not close. He took Red Bull from the disaster that was Jaguar to 2 separate eras of dominance and left them with an engine operation that's pulled off the best new manufacturer debut in F1 history. Ferrari would be insane to not hand him the keys if he was genuinely available.
All the technical development of Red Bull was lead by Newey, but he sure was instrumental in hiring him.
Unless he can attract a few great technical leaders into Ferrari, nothing will be different.

But I give him one things. He sure wouldn't have stayed silent like a mouse after such an ADUO fiasco like Mekies does.
Aston's proving that Red Bull's rise to success wasn't just about Newey. F1 is a team sport and Horner built that team, managed the finances to pay for it all and had the long term vision to put key pieces like the young driver program and the engine factory in place. Without Horner there would be no Red Bull racing.

This narrative that Hamilton is slow in Baku is overblown. He was bad in the GE era. Pre 2022 he performed well in terms of speed pretty much every year (thanks to insanely OP cars and a slow teammate like Bottas)
In any event, as you can see there was never any WDC fights despite some people pushing this borderline experimental narrative like there was no tomorrow, asking for useless team orders and priority

Hamilton has 1 win in his entire career in Baku. His teammates combined have more. It's not really an argument. He does not like this place at all.

In 3 FPs and a qual Hamilton didnt saw that he had no front? Yeah ok he doesn't like this track but why everyone else changed things and didn't had this problem?
Anyway, the engine deficit is super real, Leclerc with Monza setup was loosing so much in the straight was incredible.
Move on to next year hoping the new engine they design will work from day one.

He lost 2017 because of a technical issue when he was dominating. In 2021 he kept up with the faster RBs.
In 2016 he --- up quali and couldn't fix the issue with the PU because he forgot how to do it and the engineers couldn't tell it because at the time it was not allowed.

The pace has always been good, outside the GE era where he has been slower compared to the 2014-2021 one.

Embarrassing performance from the so called "best chassis"

Weird one. In this case we maximised the result but without pace. Kinda the opposite of Hungary/Zandvort/Madring where we wasted good pace with poor execution.

It’s all just very, as the kids would say, ‘mid’. I think “best chassis” was always a bit simplistic - we were best in some types of corners but not in every single type - which meant better relative performance in Barcelona and Silverstone than Monaco, despite lack of power. That’s what I think explains the weirdly counterintuitive results at that stage of the season.

Now, I think not bringing the full aero package to Holland has basically set us back relatively on the chassis side, which is a shame - bit of a 2024 echo. Nothing ever quite comes together at Ferrari.

When Hamilton develops Formula 1 cars, does he only do that in the winter months?

For whatever reason his in season development of the SF26 Formula 1 car has been lacking this season as it seems to be going backwards, like any other year.

Just curious if this the normal Hamilton development/design cycle and should we expect him to once again deliver over the winter for the 2027 car

Horner had been linked with Ferrari previously when he was at Red Bull, but the move did not materalise. However, given Ferrari's faltered title challenge in 2026, Italian media have begun to be critical once again of Vasseur, who assumed control of the team in 2023.

RacingNews365 understands that a plan is provisionally being drawn up for how Ferrari could manage Vasseur's exit at the end of the season, if the Frenchman decided to step down.

Vasseur was then asked if he would like to work with Horner in the future, Vasseur quipped: 'You have to ask my assistant.'

Aston doesn't prove anything. He only arrived mid last year. At Red Bull he arrived in late 2005. RB won its first championship in 2010. It was fairly competitive in 2009. He didn't do miracles in like 15 month, how surprising.
Sure a leeder needs who manages all this stuff running. But his effect on car and racing competence was precious little. The driver program was famously ran by Marko. And it was more often a circus than not.

"Without Horner there would be no Red Bull racing." - or there would be... Unknowable. He's not the only capable manager.

You're missing the fact that he changed to the wrong setup for FP3, and then continued with that.

What are you talking about? He doesn't develop the car in any shape or form. He complains loudly if it's not to his taste, that's all.

Compression ratio really making the difference here for Merc and Red Bull powered cars.

A lot of people have forgotten about this

Hamilton used the higher DWF floor spec because he was suffering massively in the corners. He needed more support, but it still didn't work very well.
He was just slow this weekend (relatively to Leclerc).
