Just read this news and I like this idea. The former drivers can judge the thing out of the view of the race drivers and I can't imagine that the common stewards would be able to do so. Hopefully they'll do a good job.
There is a bunch of former drivers working in the media or keep up with the issues of track development and technology. I can imagine that some of those will drafted in to be advisors. From the German speaking side I can imagine Surer, Berger, Danner, Rosberg (works for Sky Germany), Lauda, Stuck. From that bunch Swiss national Surer would be a very fine choice. He is extremely competent and a very diplomatic personality.
Perhaps other nationalities can discuss possible candidates they know?
Formula One's fundamental ethos is about success coming to those with the most ingenious engineering and best ..............................organization, not to those with the biggest budget. (Dave Richards)
One thing I like about Todt, and it might not sound like a bid deal, but those with spouses will understand. Being married and having a wife to answer to when you do something tends to keep people more honorable, and thinking of people in general.
Max could do what he wanted, and just spank some prostitutes to feel better about himself after.
I think Totd has the potential to pull some crazy Maxish stunts, but I also see him keeping the peace much better, and not getting enjoyment out of angering people all the time.
A dictator or a managing director? I like the latter, I just hope it's good for the sport.
Drivers as stewards is a great obvious step.
Before I do anything I ask myself “Would an idiot do that?” And if the answer is yes, I do not do that thing. - Dwight Schrute
I think that the 2 or 3 ex drivers need to be very carefully selected in order to avoid too much bias towards certain teams and nationalities. I would probably go for one native English speaker one German/Austrian/Swiss ex driver and one Latin/South American ex driver. All should have driven for several teams, kept following F1 since retirement, have a kind of diplomatic personality and high reputation for sportsmanship. I don't think that the highest performers are necessarily well suited to that profile. You will probably be looking at drivers who did in excess of 100 GPs and have single digit race wins. Champions would probably not fit the bill.
I have already named Berger and Surer who would be my ideal candidates. How would Blundell look for the English candidate and perhaps a guy like Alesi for the Latin faction.

=D> Excellent idea. As Coulthard said whilst commentating this year, drivers have to make split second decisions and therefore no-one is better at judging those decisions than old drivers themselves. I don't think nationality or team history really has anything to do with those things anymore. Take a guy like Coulthard, who has had a long and distinguished career racing for several top flight teams. These guys (mostly) are professionals. When theres a panel of them I shouldn't think politics will play any part in their decisions.
I must say that I had my reservations about Todt, but based on his first few acts I think we are in for good times. =D>

surer? what does him qualify for a job like that???? No ways and to be honest as host he´s in the same embarassing league as Danner ...at times you just think how guys like thies did actually get a cockpit in their days..maybe they were lucky nobody could understand german language..
