Parc ferme´in 2010?

Post

How is this going to work out in 2010. We will obviously have low fuel qualification Q1 through Q3. Then the cars will be on a low fuel set up presumably? Are they going to call all cars into parc ferme and refuel them there?

It doesn't make an awful lot of sense to me. Will teams be allowed to refuel the cars in their garages where they will have full safety measures employed? Will they be able to make changes to the setting with 150 kg fuel going on board? It sounds pretty sensible to do something along those lines. Sending the guys into qualifying and into the race with a compromised setup would be pretty stupid in my view.

I could imagine that the teams can take the cars into their garages and get a dead line to show up for parc ferme. Alternatively they could scrap parc ferme and do a warm up on Sunday on top. I would love to see the warm up come back.

In recent years with the restrictions of parc ferme and not reaaly much allowed to change between q3 and race my view is there is nothing left of a real difference between the two .You have to work out a setup wich is workable for the race ,thats it,really you could think.
With the fuelload for 2010 you will have to rise the car considerably in Qualy so a lot of performance will not get unleashed if not someone comes up with the miraculous overnight growing bumprubber....or something more clever but still within the rules...

But then ...who says the cars went into parc ferme exactly in the guise they did their qualy lap in 2009? only those cars that did finish their qualy attempt without having a chance to return to the pits before going to parc ferme really could not be changed anymore..all others could and possibly did? so someone might do the attempt
in full qualy trim come back into the pits stick on the race dampers and do an aborted final run ....

the parc ferme rules have been really strange since their inception, we have seen teams being able to change alot of parts on the cars for (equal) performance parts in the name of safety... if they are real about cost cutting they should change this... the car you go into qual with should be exactly the same car, part for part, that you go into the race with, change any part and you should get a grid penalty.

Settings on the other hand should be allowed to change from qually to race, ride height, wing angles, damper settings, suspension settings and so on should be allowed to be changed and yes the Sunday warm up should be re-instated.

Parc Ferme is more a state than a physical place.

The cars still go back in their garages for safety checks etc, FIA watching... so it will just be a case of sticking the fuel in, in the morning...

wasn't it introduced due to the fueling ban between qualli and race day ?
id say let them at the cars all Saturday night if they want to.

My feeling has always been that the Parc Ferme rule made the races more processional. Without any changes to the cars between qualifying and the race, how can you expect any performace change either. That is unless a car got stuck behind Truli. Bad news.
Want to spice things up, get rid of the Parc Ferme.
The only advantage I see to it is a cost reduction feature. It stops the teams from effectively running different cars for qualifying and the race. Same chass but different bits.
The solution will never make everyone happy but the return of Sunday warm-up would be a HUGH bonus.
