He is fine with the #2 car. Seems he is getting comfortable with being out of the lime light.

Blowing drivers away is more dramatic if you're the mild mannered 2nd driver rookie. He has it planned out.

There we were thinking that he forced his team to give him the lead driver status. In reality he simply liked the shape of an odd number. Its rather sweet.

If I was Nico, I ask for surname alphabetical order ;)

I wonder if Lewis will have a sudden affinity for odd numbers and ask Jenson if he'll be a sweetie and do a swapsie with him? That'll work in Jenson's favour because Lewis has always been terrible in a car with number 1 on the nose.

I personally think superstition is the stupidest thing in the world but when you take into account that MS won all 7 of his titles driving with an odd number on the car, I can see how it has gotten into his brain.

Number 3? Numder 4? who cares, it means absolutely nothing, as does the color of the rollhoop camara.

JB will be running the 1 car and will be made to look silly doing it by the man in the Number 2 car, just as in 2007.

You know, I checked wiki and it seems he raced only a single race (his first one) with an even number. Can he compare?

back to silly season talk...

Seems like drivers are being asked for % mil for each remaining race seat...

http://formula-one.speedtv.com/article/ ... ace-seats/

Wonder if that is 5 mil US or Euro, and if that garuntees a full season regardless of crashes(intentional or not  )

I guess being the #1 driver over most of his career has pretty much garenteed him the odd number huh.

FIA wont allow it, when the final realease of driver numbers comes out roughly 3 weeks before Bahrain, i expect that Alonso and Massa will also change numbers/"posistions" in the team.

Gotta go on the previous years championship standings, otherwise youre mocking the previous year. The driver with the most points will always be the defacto #1 in the FIAs eyes.

They allowed it when Rubens went to Honda and wanted the #11 IN 2006

there have been some other instances but none come to mind at the moment

JB had #22 in 2009 even though RB(#23) had more points in 2008

The only number assigned to a driver is the #1, the rest of the numbers are assigned to the teams and the teams assign them as they wish.

let's not forget Brawn were initially allocated 20 & 21 in 2009 before Force India successfully requested the FIA to have 20/21 back.. making Brawn 22/23, FI 20/21, and no one 18/19..

damn, I think this trend of not confirming drivers until last moment is just ridiculous - not only for drivers, but also for us fans too. I mean, what will anyone achieve if you sign a driver, but not reveal it?? I just don't get it.....

Hi new to the forum, just want to point out something I came across.

http://totalf1.com/full_story/view/3290 ... ion_to_F1/

Whoever signs him will have the cash for all the logistics the season will ask for.

I'm thinking he'll end up in Campos, although Renault are probably seriously considering as well. Supposedly he's not a bad driver.

So, Heidfeld is @ Mercedes. Maybe this is indication that Petrov will end in Renault?
