A couple ideas from me again:

* Website resource database (Official websites and wikipedia pages etc.. also other important pages such as the Toyota archive, Bridgestone and Cosworth websites as well. Also drivers oficial web pages as well if they have them)

* Some up to date articles (Updated steering wheel, super computers/CFD and wind-tunnel article)

It seems to be a bug, and independent of whether the person has a sig or not. On this page, dumrick and wesley123 have the Big Nothing there.

I am fine on this page, but on the previous page, the Big Nothing appears again. This post as well, before the edit where this sentence was added.
I think You refer to the situation while text in the post field is short and overall height of the box is smaller than the box containing avatar and user info. This is just the board was constructed in php and I don't see any other possibility except hiding avatar and user info while post is very short.
Ah I see now, it's just that it needs to line up with the info on the outside.

This helps to get back to the directory of active topics without scrolling to the top of the page. Usually we read at the bottom of a page when we want to go back to a directory or forum.
Have you tried the using the "home" key...?

Seriously though, what would be nice is for the "Forum" link in the banner to have a drop down menu (similar to the News, Technology, and Database links) showing the different categories and one for "Active Topics" as well.

Oooh can you guys please change it so when you click a link provided by a fellow forum-er, that it opens in a separate browser tab, rather than loading in the current F1Tech tab!

i'm too lazy to keep remembering to hold the apple key (proud mac user!) each time!

Yes, that's a useful one. A default setting so that clicking links to external sites opens a new tab.

However, I have Firefox set up to do that automatically on every site. It's very useful, especially when combing through search results.

It is useful and it is already there. See where it says "Posted: Sun Jan 17, 2010 5:25 am"? Just to the left is a little page icon. Click on that ;) .. or right click and select "Copy link location" etc...

Yes, repeat the forum bread crumb at the bottom of the page.
WhiteBlue wrote:3. Delete button for double postings while editable
That only seems to happen with you, and regularly ... user error??? ;) :)

how so? i use Firefox, and most other forums already do incorporate this. how do you set it as a default setting? or is it an add-on?

1. THX, got that. It is very obscure. How did you figure this out?

2. The "return to" button is not working the way it should. If I start from the "Forum topic" or "Active forum topics" page it should be pre set to take me back there without much ado. That way I can quickly browse all active topics without any scrolling.

3. I believe that there have been some tests in the last days to provide a delete button or block double posts in a time window. Two of my DPs were caught that way and it was one by each method. I would appreciate it if we could get either of the two improvements implemented. At the moment I'm mostly using my trackpad to shoot off postings until I have tested a new mouse. I plan to look at the Magic Mouse, but it will take some time.

I'm not sure if that's exactly what has been asked, but I also think a repeat of the home button at the end of the page would be usefull, because it is tiresome to have to scroll back up the page every time.
I bet statistically the most common usage after reading or typing a post is to get back to the home page to check other threads, so the home feat should fall right into your click...

Yep, we seem to have the same view there.

The section for F1 car releases a bit more visible during the off-season.
Say in the event schedule on the homepage, so instead of being (currently tests) it's test and launches.

Apologies. I have found it in the "Tab mix plus" add on. Its a fantastic add-on and does everything that you'd wish FF did out of the box. Other add-ons do bits and pieces, but Tab Mix has it all in one neat package.

Here's the help page for how to force external links to open in new windows. It also forces new windows to open in a new tab.

I know, it's a continuous job really. However, everyone is invited to contribute! If you feel like writing an article on some technical stuff, or you have lots of car data that could be added to the database, just drop me an email. I'd be happy to read, adapt, publish and advertise you ;)
