Hi new to the forum, just want to point out something I came across.

Whoever signs him will have the cash for all the logistics the season will ask for.

I'm thinking he'll end up in Campos, although Renault are probably seriously considering as well. Supposedly he's not a bad driver.

GP2 driver Vitaly Petrov is hoping to land one of the remaining seats in Formula One this year by offering €15 million (US$21 million) for a drive.

He finished as runner-up in last year's GP2 championship to Williams driver Nico Hulkenberg and has been in talks with Renault and Campos about a drive for the upcoming season. His personal sponsorship comes from Moscow-based bank Sberbank and Gazprom, the largest extractor of natural gas in the world, according to Geman newspaper Bild. His backing would equate to €800,000 (US$1.1 million) a race for the team that takes him on.

One driver that i think could be an outsider for the Renault seat could be Bertrand Baguette, if you are wanting a rich driver, it has been said that he has some cash to flash for 2010.

And im sure that theres more drivers with more cash than him.

out of curiosity, Why do you have Senna and DLR as #2 drivers? I would think Senna would be the lead and DLR is the veteran over Kobayashi.

As for De La Rosa, i have him as #2 as he was signed second, and as is the un written rule that teams prefer the highest points total from the previous year as their #1 for the next season, unless they have a phobia over even numbers.

I can't believe the BMW name hasn't been dropped, or that it wasn't part of the Peter Sauber takeover deal!

I believe you are in error there. According to the Concord a team name change has to receive the approval of all other teams. In the past these things have been used as bargaining chips and Peter probably knows he will not waste resources and work on changing that before he comes up with another title sponsor who will pay for it to have the name changed. It is entirely rational to keep the name to avoid a double change.

I think we are both right, i forgot about the Concorde thing, but the papaerwork and fee also happens. And i aggree that why change the name twice, when once a title sponsor is found, use that to change the team name then.

Im thinking Panasonic could be the title sponsor here, with the Nespresso brand coning as the secondry sponsor with a few other sponsors as well.

There are sponsors out there, and Sauber will be a shrewd buy in for the 2010 season i think.

Your forgetting a change in livery, clothing and all promotional material. Could run into thousands of £££'s which I expect Sauber would rather keep.

Livery, Clothing, promo stuff, garage fittings, truck liveries, motorhomes etc will have to change anyway - at the very least because their ex-title sponsor jumped bandwagons.

Petrov is now beginning to be linked very heavily in a lot of lower-spec European (namely French & Hungarian) websites.. either a dodgy source they've all jumped on, or there's genuine knowledge filtering thru.

though there is a real dodgy rumour also doing the rounds that Kubica spoke to Buemi recently & said he doesn't want to work with Heidfeld again, effectively boycotting him of the Renault drive, and that Villeneuve will get it..

according to several french sites and magazines, Renault signed Petrov as #2 indeed, and Ho ping Tung as third driver.

Still not official but some of the sources, like autohebdo are quite solid and not adepts of spreading rumors, so I buy it as a done deal...

Villeneuve at Renault would not make much sense. He hasn't exactly covered himself in glory at Sauber the last time out and he isn't rumored to carry much sponsorship. I wouldn't mind having five F1 champs on the grid though. Villeneuve would make more sense for USF1 with their quest for American drivers. Even there he would find it difficult without some fat sponsorship.
