Where did it say that they were working on some special engine cover? Anyone remember something like that?

They should be banned by rules to avoid problems like what happened to renault last year in extremly fast pit we will see this year without refueling
They are already banned, announced autumn last year
That's why those mounts on the wheels make me wonder if there's a loophole or something.

It must be very secret ;) The only engine innovation I heard of is the angular configuration, and tapering the gearbox to accommodate the diffuser without raising the center of gravity!

Good! I hope your right! It's time Ferrari started pushing the envelope!(again)

I think those are just the old wheels from last season with the covers removed, so they have the mounts for the wheel covers. i'm sure come the start of the season there will be new, clean wheels without the mounting brackets. i dont know about the service life of wheel rims but maybe they had a set that hadnt reached its use by date at the end of last season and so they just carried on using the old ones.

also, afaik wheelcovers are banned outright, it was a cost saving measure suggested by FOTA, i dont think they will break rules they suggested or help put into place. there would be to much of a backlash.

Most of the teams cover the rear up as a matter of course now.

soooo much crap on pgs 37/38/39.. its like there was no car to discuss! #-o

So, i have a question to those who are actually capable of discussing the car itself with a hint of maturity..

the highlighted bit..
Image

Does this primarily work the air in between these splitters.. onto the horizontal leading edge of the floor under the driver, or primarily the air outside the splitters leading to the bargeboards?

The sharp edges on the vertical splitters will create vortices, effectively sealing the flow.. but sealing it from spilling inwards, or outwards?

And why have them hanging there like that? What's the thinking behind having a top edge to the splitter vs Renault's integrated splitter with the nose?

Is it possible that the ferrari is a long car, particularly the nose cone is really long in comparison to any other car. maybe these vertical guides perform the same function as the renault nose just it is adapted to the shape of the f10 nose cone.

the flow under the nose cone will be low pressure if im not mistaken so the vortices, if that is what these things do, would be to seal the flow from comming in.

The F10 during the February Valencia test was eqquipped with a modified front wing with new upper planes (1) , which were more boxy and had a small inner endplate and a new wavy profile (2) .

they're vertical. one on each side of the tub (you can just see the shadowed back of the other side in the photo).

I think Fil is referring the the part seen in this photo under the nose (between the front wheels):
