Mercedes GP MGP W01

Marcush,

I dont know how they would do it. I wouldnt be posting on this site if i did, I would be desiging it for another team now!
I think there is a an area of bodywork that could be used as part of the diffuser, while still conforming to "bodywork" regulations. This would circumvent the diffuser regs.
My line of thinking is very simple indeed, would a team that had the best iteration of the diffuser in 2009 simply sit on its hands and re-use it? Or would they push the boundaries to as far as they could possibly go?

What would Brawn do? We know his track record after all, so while it may not be a miracle diffuser, I expect it to improve the car.
I could be wrong, but these dudes dont get paid big dollars for nothing.

+1
with the exception that I´m sure I would be able to at least find some loopholes and give the boffins something to crunch through their CFD analysis..if these would ever yield something like a dd advantage would be up for evaluation ,but of course the thought is academic as well as Ross will not call.

I don't think we will see some super trick new ideas for Bahrain on the Mercedes car, but I do think there will be noticeable updates to the sides, diffuser, and possibly the front wing. I expect these to be more efficient than what is on the car now for some good aero gains.

Side pod mods were dueto e fited for the last few days of testing in Barcelona. Don't know why they did not fit the parts.
Internal (under body work) changes they made already.
they only had enough parts for one car for teh last est so perhaps thats the reason for the delay. Staff numbers are down but the machinery in the factory still requires the same man hours so I guess they're stretched thin on human resources

It feels like dejavu with Brawn promising massive eg, sidepod mods and then not actually changing anything (a la 2009). I can't quite work out what's going on with them. All we know is that we shall see...

Can you point me in the direction of where to find the sidepod story?

Is this an indication of what someone posted earlier about the ill fitting floor?
Ie untidy trim etc?

are you a aero expert at mercedes? i think not. Ross Brawn quoted that the car is not where he wants it to be in terms of performance

I think I get what you're getting at, but show me a direct quote where Ross Brawn says that they are struggling with the MGP W01.

it can't be more official: http://www.formula1.com/news/interviews ... 10481.html
No word of problems with the nose or strugling...

Q: When do you realistically expect to start winning races?
RB: Bahrain. Our objective is to start in Bahrain. Once we see where everybody is, we’ll see what sort of task that we have to carry out and how we need to react. Our target is always to win the next race. And the next race is Bahrain.

This perhaps?
"We are not quite as well prepared as I would like to be, but we are getting there," he said. "It's been quite a difficult winter. I think as it was the first winter with 450 people, as opposed to 700, we've felt the loss in a few areas.

"But I'm reasonably happy with the car. It's showing good promise. We need to keep up our development speed, and then we should be okay."

The Briton admitted his team was somewhat off the pace of the leading squads, but claimed he was not too worried about it.

"I don't think that it is a second," he said of the gap to Ferrari and McLaren. "You have to look into the details of what has been done. I think that on our high fuel runs and our race runs, when we get the car right, we are competitive. It's just a little tricky to get the car right.

Autosport used the interview from F1.com BTW.
