Mercedes GP MGP W01

Not sure what track they were using at Rockingham, you would have to guess the full one which is 2.5 miles.
I thought the main circuit at Rockingham had a lot of high speed straits, hardly ideal for DF testing. For setting up a rear wing pressure bleed sytem ideal though. I suppose back to back diffuser testing would be useful and Silverstone was not available I understand. So who knows?

They cannot test using tracks that are on the schedule.

According to rockingham's twitter account they used the ISSC circuit (1.94 miles).
The reported 0.8 seconds per lap should be pretty much then, I guess - well if it's true

Just one more week though :D

Yes that is the rule, so the teams doing a shake down at Silverstone use the smaller "National" circuit.

I heard that instead of a snorkel they're using full diving equipment. Much better for when it rains hard.

I had a feeling they might ahve gone for some sort of shark fin, seemingly not.

Whats different about it though? The bits that stick up at the back?

Is the one they are taking in case the FIA ban the slotted wing and shark fin idea?

Interesting that they are using the exhaust protrusions like McLaren are. I think they are doing this to create a stronger wake area for the upper level of the diffuser.

Having looked at the test pics, from certain angles the W01 appears to have these exhaust protrusions already. But they look more pronounced, and the fin looks bigger in this pic too.
Perhaps its out of proportion?

The proper exhaust covers will look differnt since the units used throughout the test were not strictly to the letter of the rules.

More to com I guess.

Want to see how much mods they effected to the side pods and if they have altered the nose cone as some have asserted they would.

at the moment Schumacher is not happy with the understeery nature of the car while rosberg is happy as a pig in sh*t about that. Will be interesting to see how the design team have merged the differing needs to create a development path that suits both drivers. at the moment the car favours rosberg

I heard there is an imbalance in the car, With full load its understeery as you suggest, and as the load lightens it veers toward oversteer.
I too heard of the sidepod adjustements, but that wont make such a huge difference.
Iam anticipating the floor and diffuser to have a bigger impact, If there is a new floor and diffuser that is.

Also regards the nose cone, is that because their concept has failed?

Looks like they covered the pipes from the last test with smooth surface. Can't wait to see the whole thing.
For Sure!!
