SEE?
i mentioned this a few posts back as it seems unlikely they could find a lot of weight in the front end to remove...so the trick would be of course to move the front whhels froward....so new upper and lower wishbones aimed more forward ,maybe even moving the steering rack a bit to the front, but also a need to reposition the front wing accordingly.plus possible new pushrod modified rockers/or rocker positioning....quite a different car in the front then..horse wrote:A wheelbase change, perhaps? I presume they'd have to make it longer in order to shift weight off the front. Would there be room on the tub to do that?
They said they couldn't find any weight to move back, not our nose has too much drag. The nosecone is not their problem or they would've said "our nosecone sucks",instead they said "our weight distribution sucks"JohnsonEvilTwin wrote:Marcush
Thanks for the link. So then, if you are struggling with weight distribution too forward biased, and with a nose that gargamel would be proud of. Would you not redesign the nose?
Front wing is a temp fix. Total rethink required
I agree, this solution is not an insignificant amount of work, and may have a serious impact on their nose cone design. I think it depends on how sensitive the "kink" on the underside of the nose is to the position of the front wing and the wheels. It would seem impossible to bring the kink forward as it looks like this is designed into the chassis rather than the nose.marcush. wrote:modified rockers/or rocker positioning....quite a different car in the front then..
the low nose could be moving if not modified into a unfavourable position with this effectively causing a bit of converging flows between nose and tyre?so new crashtest.
so this maybe a solution but a very elaborate one with lots of new parts and molds to be made ...
hence the big timeframe they already communicated to rectify the root course.horse wrote:I agree, this solution is not an insignificant amount of work, and may have a serious impact on their nose cone design. Do you not see that the nose of the car is in fact the issue here?Pierce89 wrote:They said they couldn't find any weight to move back, not our nose has too much drag. The nosecone is not their problem or they would've said "our nosecone sucks",instead they said "our weight distribution sucks"JohnsonEvilTwin wrote:Marcush

Mercedes have too much weight ahead the driver, they cannot remedy this quickly. So probably not Aero but definatley weight distribution issues going on that Marcush has already point to with the RTL news story today.
So where do you propose they shed the weight my friend? REDESIGN THE NOSE!
