2006-02-21: MECHANICAL INSPECTOR
This position will be responsible for:
• programming a Mitutoyo C.M.M, using Cosmos and 3D TOL software
• the final inspection using various hand tools (i.e. Verniers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
• Model handling

The ideal candidate will:

• be able to read and understand engineering drawings
• have a minimum of five years experience working in an engineering/inspection environment (ideally within Motorsport or Aerospace)
• be able to work to a tight schedule
• have good communication skills and be able to work as part of a team
• have a flexible attitude towards working hours


2006-01-12: MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER
Reporting to the head of mechanical design we are looking for a graduate engineer with at least 2 years previous motor sport design experience.

The ideal candidate would be able to generate layouts for major areas of the car and go on to either supervise or complete all the subsequent detail design and drawings. Familiarity with CATIA V5 would be an advantage


2006-01-12: COMPOSITE DESIGN ENGINEERS
Reporting to the head of composite design, the successful candidates will be responsible for the design and detailing of composite parts.
This work involves taking or creating a 3D surface, detailing patterns and moulds, specifying lay-up information and supporting the production process.
The Ideal candidates will have a formal engineering qualification and 2 years of design experience from a related field and also some practical experience of composite structure manufacture. Familiarity with CATIA V5 would be an advantage


2006-01-09: AERODYNAMICISTS
As part of the expansion of our wind tunnel facility, we are looking for aerodynamicists of varying experience to complement our aerodynamic department.
As an integral part of our aerodynamic team, the successful applicants will be actively involved in aerodynamic design and wind tunnel testing. This will include being responsible for maintaining the quality of the wind tunnel tests, analysing the test data, and presenting the information to the department.
The successful candidates will possess a degree in Aeronautical Engineering and have previous experience of wind tunnel testing within a motorsport environment. A working knowledge of CAD and CFD would be a distinct advantage. Strong analytical skills, enthusiasm and a flexible approach to working hours are essential.


2006-01-09: FEA ENGINEER
We are looking to employ a stress analyst with a degree in mechanical or aeronautical engineering. Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years industrial/Motorsport experience in stress analysis of composites and metallic materials. A working knowledge of Catia V5 and the MSC suite (PATRAN, NASTRAN and Laminate Modeller) would be an advantage. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of FEA codes and a good understanding of structures.

For a number of projects for different F1 teams in the UK, Germany, Switzerland and Italy, AES is looking for experienced F1 Designers.

Location: UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland, Italy, Luxembourg

The purpose of the job:

• Develop chassis parts SSP / Composites etc. with Catia V4 &/ V5
• Develop Aero parts, wind tunnel models etc in Catia V4 &/ V5

Your profile:

• Relevant design experience within F1 Motorsports
• Sound knowledge of CATIA V5 (minor V4)
• Proven experience in project responsibility
• Team player, good communication skills, positive attitude towards flexible working hours

Contract duration: 3 - 12 months (not applicable for permanent staff)
Start: between 1st March 2006 and 1st May 2006
Contract rate: Euro 45 - 60 / hour, depending on qualifications, experience and location
Contract hours: 40 – 65 hours / week, depending on the client need
Permanent salary: Euro 5.000 - 9.000 / month, depending on qualifications experience and location.

It is very hard to get into F1 as they will only take the best.

I work for a small company that do alot of engineering work for F1 cars and i have managed to get contacts in some teams.

The best way to do it is like what has already been said.

Start small - think big.

Our client is looking for experienced Formula 1 designers with experience of Transmission Hydraulic design. 3D CAD experience is obviously essential and ideally Unigraphics, CATIA or CATIA V5.
