It is better not to qualify like Kimi did?

Kimmi showed us today an interesting posibility: maybe it is better to fill'er up and be last in qualifying. You gain two stops and roughly 60 seconds, or a second a lap. That, if you can pass Villeneuve. :D

Did Raikkonen win over Montoya because he failed to qualify? Or am I crazy? Or both?

On a track that is harder on tyres then what Kimi did is alot more difficult

How long do Bridgestone tires and Michelin tires last in regards to optimal peroformance, in regards to when should they pit in for a fresh set. I know it takes about five laps for the bridestones to be properly heated to give them the performance and michelin tires are good at the start of any run on a car.

We may see some teams, if they make the final qualifying session, go out with full fuel. The worse they can do is tenth, and be able to start on full tanks. If Kimi had started tenth today and run a one stopper, he may have won. Of course, if the track is difficult to pass on, then that strategy may be traded for sheer speed and track position up front.

Mark Webber did just that... I think he was the last in the top 10 to stop, near halfway through. It didn't do him any good, he was passed by klien & fisichella at the start. Even Sam Michael admitted that Webber ran too heavily in the qualifying.

In the end, running on fumes like Schumacher did seems to be a pretty good way to go.

i think getting into the top ten and filling up to the brim is a good tactic for teams outside the top four to help them secure points.. but i still think that top teams wont want to do that..
