Herman Tilke Imola Revisions 2007!

Post

I had to look twice when I saw this in Autosport this morning because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The final chicane of the Imola circuit (Variante Basa) is going to be removed! Looks good to me, should mean a fast approach to the Tamburello chicane meaning a chance for slipstreaming and overtaking.

He's basically doing the opposite of the tambourella modification.

Could be good, might not.

I can draw a line and call it a racetrack though.

p.s. I like your new avitars guys. More Manchild magic?

You can't overtake there at the moment though.

Personally if it generates possible overtaking opporunities into Tamburello chicane then I believe this is a good move. Jeez, Tilke can't seem to do anything right.

I think it will be dangerous to have cars going over 300km/h where other cars exiting pits enter the track.

i second that......seems to screw up more tracks than 'renovate'.........while they are at it, why not just un-chicaine Tamburello and use that new(ish) super absorbant railing like they use in nascrap? thats designed to absorb impacts at 200mph from indy cars and those other oval things......that way you shouldnt have to worry about having a HUGE runoff space that Tilke seems to love so much (like the way he killed Fuji by paveing the whole damn thing :evil: ........

Isn't the San Marino GP or the Imola GP (I forget which one) being sued for noise pollution and that the GP might be cancelled if the organizor's lose?
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

thats Monza.......used to be in the middle of nowhere just outside Milan, but expansion, expansion, expansion......the same thing happens to airports all the time :oops: were built a long time ago in the middle of a field and then the suburbs pop up and squeeze up next to it and then people move in and complain about the noise for the planes takeing off and landing...."well.....if you dont like the sound, why the hell did you move there? the airports been there way before any of these houses were built!"..........simple logic seems to be absent from some people...lol....
move next to airport/race track -> airport/race track = plane/racecars -> planes/racecars = noise........... :x

anyway, if monza is slashed, there goes another of the Legends...like Spa.....

we are going back in time! thats how it used to be in the pre 80's! all we need to do now is wait nother 20 odd years and we might get tamburello back to what it should be...
