Would a Lotus Exige/Elise make a good rally car? Why/Why not?

Who's Danny Behar? Who's proton? I'm a High school slacker who likes cars. My favorite car is the Lotus Exige. I'm just wondering how well it could perform in a rally enviornment. I'm in the dark about something obvious, right? Feel free to tell me...

a lotus exige would be absolute crap as a rallye car.

the front suspension is bolted to the aluminium structure in a ways that accident repairs to the tub are not possible /allowed.
so 1 day in Rallying will render the chassis as a write off ...
Not to talk about the suspension bind in droop when the steering is at not even full lock....I would find two thousand reasons more ,but I think thats enough already. :roll:

It was meant to be a joke, as Danny has been trying to get Lotus into as many different motorsport categories as possible since taking over the top job at Lotus.

As for how it would perform in a rally environment, I will leave that to the more technically gifted forum members.

I recon the Exige would make a good base for a GT3 car.

One to take on the McLaren MP4/12C GT3 and Mercedes SLS AMG in the future, but the current Aston Martin DBRS9, Audi R8 LMS, BMW ALPINA B6 GT3, PORSCHE 911 GT3 R, CORVETTE Z06R GT3, Ford GT, FERRARI 430 SCUDERIA and im sure theres a Nissan GTR and Honda NSX in there somewhere as well.

Thats where is put the Exige.

Exige won BGT3 in the first year ...
I understand were you are coming from but the package just does not fit with the performance equalisation when all competitors are running heavy V8 engines...
In Britain with the twisty tracks you can do it but on those Nurburgring ,SPA paulricard ,Silverstone and other high speed tracks you cannot hold a candle against the brute power.
If you ever drove a Porsche GT3 or a Vette Z06 and compared it to the Elise it is quite obvious that the concepts are really worlds apart ...GT3 is equalisation formula and this is impossible for that car towards the others.
I have done a lot of work on this type of car and you can get a lot out of it no question but challenge a Mac or a Audi A8LMS or Matech GT? I do not see it .

the little sucker was 3 quickest of all cars ever tested on that day...I will never forget the journo shaking his head in disbelief when their driver came around for the first timed lap :mrgreen:

:lol: That guy's got a personality, there. Thanx everyone for letting me know my favorite car isn't cut out for rally racing. I wonder if Lotus will build a car aimed at the rally racing world. Wonder what it would look like. Any guesses?
