Since F1 is a huge business, bernie tends to go to places where the money is good. Since China, Malaysia and other countries who have booming economies and political stability, Bernie goes there because there was no interest in F1 before, but now there is a explosion of interest in those countries. Bernie can deal for a higher price to have there races there because those countries want a F1 race so bad. Since he gets the higher fees, the other venues have to keep up with the same prices or lose there race. Also a lot of venues in Europe and North American, the grandstand and paddock area is not as new or big as the new ones in China or Bahrain.
That is why you are starting to see interest in a race in Russia, India and Mexico to name a few.
Simon: Nils? You can close in now. Nils?
John McClane: [on the guard's phone] Attention! Attention! Nils is dead! I repeat, Nils is dead, ----head. So's his pal, and those four guys from the East German All-Stars, your boys at the bank? They're gonna be a little late.
Simon: [on the phone] John... in the back of the truck you're driving, there's $13 billon dollars worth in gold bullion. I wonder would a deal be out of the question?
John McClane: [on the phone] Yeah, I got a deal for you. Come out from that rock you're hiding under, and I'll drive this truck up your ass.

It is indeed sad to know that historic tracks such as Monza and Spa are being forced to close down, when they should be given whatever support possible.

Hoping for some positive outcome over the Monza issue.

A saga that threatened to disrupt the running of September's Italian grand prix may now be over.

A Milan court recently ruled that Monza, scene of the historic F1 race, reduce the sound of wailing engines or cancel motor sport events.

But Italian newspaper 'La Gazzetta dello Sport' reported at the weekend that Monza's mayor and the group of disgruntled local residents, after a meeting, may have now reached a mutual settlement.

Mayor Michele Faglia told the publication that the agreement would involve the installation of barriers to reduce noise from the Monza track.

The best compensation for the families is to have the local government whisk them off to an island that is nowhere close to civilization. Have they ever heard of common sense?

Well West...You should now that people around the world are causing these stupid problems, not only near the Monza circuit.
Here in Belgium, near Zaventem and the airport, young people started building houses 5-10 years ago. Brussels airport is in Zaventem for years and years, but the people decided to build there houses their. Now they start complaining that there is too much noise from airplanes flying over. They knew that the airport was there before building their house there...and I think that in Monza, this is the same case...people building houses near the circuit and than all of a sudden making protest about the noise. They knew that there was a circuit!!

So lets hope that the installation of barriers to reduce noise will be enough...otherwise we might lose another historic f1 venue :(

Those barriers better work... I attended a JGTC (or now Super GT) event in SoCal a few years ago and you can hear the racecars nearly miles away. I could only imagine how loud an open-wheel racer would be.

They had to stop racing in Holland due to noise restrictions at the Zandvoort circuit, and now Monza could suffer.

It is a great shame.

Very, very true. Which is sad since Zandvoort is a half an hour drive from where I live. The good thing is, we still have DTM, Masters of Formula 3 and for the first time most probably the A1GP.

I'd love to see F1 back in Zandvoort, but before that can happen allot has to be changed to the circuit and the surrounding areas. Traffic's a mess because of the bad infra-structure. After a big event such as DTM it can take hours to get out of Zandvoort.

Maybea compromise can be reached. We fans can make a collection, and during the grand prix event, send all the unhappy residents near Monza to a full week's vacation to, ummm, let's say, downtown Baghdad.

How many residents are affected by noise pollution?

I'm sure one weekend won't hurt them, anyway F1 engine sounds awesome :)

Anyway, there must be a way to overcome this. Unhappy residents could move away, change a house or something. The ones that moved there in recent years should've been aware of the track.

I just can't figure them out. I deliberately make sure where I live isn't near an expressway, because of the noise. I cherish my personal environment too, but even a person with a mental handicap knows that living near a racetrack or airport is assuming a lot of noise.
You know, soccer and wine making/drinking could also fall into the category of "a voluptuary and dangerous activity without social utility and with relevant impact on the environment”. I just depends on where you're standing.
